FINAL FANTASY XIII – A Special Announcement

Hi everyone! I’m Antonio “Papero” Marfuggi from SQUARE ENIX’s Brand Team.

Just dropping you a couple of lines to let you know something big (and with “big” I mean “BIG”!) is coming up about FINAL FANTASY XIII.

In just a few days, on Friday 13th November (we choose our numbers carefully!), you’ll see a very special announcement from the game’s development team, introduced to you on this very blog by the words of Yoshinori Kitase – FINAL FANTASY XIII’s Producer.

So join the countdown on the game’s official site and of course keep following the PlayStation blog for more news.

See you in a couple of days!

Not clear if its a PS3 only thing or 360 aswell, probably both as it links to the FF13 site rather than a special PS3 only thing.

Aha the US blog may leaked it a bit early, http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009...tasy-xiii-fullmetal-alchemist-and-aes-lawman/
Speaking of hits – few video games can match the level of anticipation that a FINAL FANTASY title brings to the table, and the newest addition to Square Enix’s celebrated franchise, FINAL FANTASY XIII, promises to be no exception. Assuming you haven’t been living under a rock for the past year, you’ve probably caught a glimpse of the sheer awesomeness of FINAL FANTASY XIII via one of the many trailers. The intriguing characters, the enigmatic Eidolons, the beautifully rendered environments, and the awe-inspiring cut scenes have spurred many impassioned conversations. And while it seems that everybody is waiting with bated breath for the next installment in the FINAL FANTASY saga, it is well understood that it takes time to achieve the level of “wow” hinted at in these trailers. To whet your appetite, Square Enix has given us a special, never-before-seen FINAL FANTASY XIII video to air in the PlayStation Home 10-Screen Theater this Friday, November 13th – so be sure to stop by and check it out.

Square Enix's latest J-RPG headed to North America and Europe in early 2010, Leona Lewis' "My Hands" named as theme song; new trailer inside.

Japanese gamers have known since early September that they'd be able to wade into Square Enix's highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII on December 17. However, Square Enix has continued to string along North American and European gamers, saying only that the game would debut on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in the West, hopefully, within three months of the game's Japanese debut, sometime in spring 2010.

Lightning is about ready to strike.

Today, Square Enix ended the mystery, announcing that Final Fantasy XIII will be available in North America and Europe on March 9. The publisher also said today that "My Hands" from Leona Lewis' upcoming album Echo has been chosen as the game's theme song.

Final Fantasy XIII was announced for the PlayStation 3 alone alongside Final Fantasy Versus XIII as part of the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo. However, Square Enix caused a stir at E3 2008 when it announced during Microsoft's press conference that the Japanese role-playing game would arrive in tandem on the Xbox 360. All said, Square Enix expects Final Fantasy XIII to shift some 6 million units worldwide across the two platforms.

Set in the futuristic city of Cocoon, Final Fantasy XIII follows the plight of female protagonist Lightning, as well as myriad supporting characters. Though Square Enix has released limited information about the game's plot, it will apparently see Lightning and her cohorts fighting against their "destiny" to destroy a separate locale known as "Pulse," and the denizens of that place.

Certainly is interesting for the theme song in the Western release of this game.

No surprise some people are already wondering if SquareEnix will feature the original Japanese theme songs as an optional download or whatever.

Just watched the announcement, I wasn't sure if it was the 09.03.10 or the americal way which would mean it was the 03.09.10.. so March is good news then :)

Not sure about the Leona Lewis thing though..
