**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

I never once had a healer and I breezed through the game.

my party was me warrior, shale, alistair and morrigen.

All i needed were health pots and mana pots.

I don't see why people are so fussy about the healers.

On harder than easy or normal? I'm playing on the one above normal now for my second run, and to be brutally honest I couldn't manage without Morrigan having basic heal, and my own mage carrying it too.

I guess you did a bit of herbalism and created your own pots?

The fist time I managed about half of the game on nightmare, then swapped to hard.

Yes herbalism is a life saver, I'd make loads and loads of pots.

I'd get a bit figgity if I didn't have atleast 20 potions.

Is there any way to turn off the helmet graphics? Most of them look naff, as usual.

I've been hunting for this option, but no joy so far. Really told in the first sex scene (Morrigan) where it glitched a little and my dwarf didn't take off any of his Blood Dragon plate armour. Whoops.

There is no remove helmet option and one of the DA:O team said its a choice you have to make, wear one or not.

Personally i dont, since they dont really make much difference.

That's a terrible way to put it! They don't make too much difference, but I can't help but max out my bonuses. I'm glad they don't contribute to the set bonus in that case, but how hard would it be to patch it in later? Hopefully about the same time they patch in some way to see the set bonuses you get.

That's a bit rich considering they remove them for all the cutscenes!

In middle ages and even still today it is considered improper and disrespectful to converse with someone with a helmet or hat on.

Same taken them in indoors and when greeting someone.

So it only seems right.

I play my own character without a helmet because I don't want to wear one.

If I inflict a penatly for it, too bad. Won't stop me.

I've also not noticed increased critical hits on me from not wearing it.

well in Balders Gate a helmet would stop enemies doing criticals on you, quite how that worked i dont know! but they may have kept the mechanic in this game too.

Thats probably the only thing missing from this game, numbers. I miss being able to see the number crunching in action. I want to know how far off i am from opening those chests!

Game could be balanced better. Was rock solid at the start, now my main (tank) is around level 16 (partying with shale, dog and wynne) and everything is super easy. It's like they scaled the difficulty level based on someone who allocated their talent points randomly, autopiloted every fight with default tactics, never got relationship bonuses with party members, and never did any of the side quests for extra armor etc. Like at the circle tower I had to plan every fight and make pulls as if I was running a heroic instance on WoW, now I just charge in and everything takes care of itself. I could crank the difficulty but what is the point when there are no rewards for doing so.

Could it not also be that as you've progressed through the game, you've learnt how to play it and get the best out of your team?
If you played some of the encounters you do know with the experience you had at the start of the game would it be so easy?

right click on the armour and select the view thing (the eye) it tells you the item set bonus for that armour there. :)

That's what the loading screen told me, but it just gives me the cost and a little description. Whether I've got it equipped or sitting idle, I can't see it anywhere.

I've just run into an abominably hard battle. First time I've put the game down to easy, played it about 6 times since and I can't make any headway. I just get mullered so fast, can't seem to find a way around it.
