The e-mail I got is just a generic one saying it starts on Aug 27th and code has to be redeemed before 29th Dec.
The cool(ish) part is:

so at the least you get a free, relatively unique, costume for your sackboy. Enjoy.

I borrowed it off my bro when I got my Slim on release. My 4 year old daughter absolutely adores it; can't really play levels with a lot of jumping though. As yet, can't convince the wife to play.
