Why do we get this nonsense every time we get a new high end card out.

Cutting edge technology in graphics cards has always been expensive.

Considering the 5970 performs the same, and faster (in cases) than two 5870's in Crossfire... it's a good price.

OcUK are a little pricey if I'm honest though; but they have stock which not many others do.

But ATI are saintly, holy firgures who never over price their hardware no matter how new or fast it is!

Or at least that's what some on these forums would have you believe anyway!
