Bah! Do they have manners, chucking it down this morning and I was dodging and ducking my way around town trying to avoid idiots with brollies.

At one point I was being charged down by two older women, fixed in conversation, oblivious to me. I had to dive into the road to avoid being involved in a mangled collision with their umbrellas'.

Occasionally somebody was nice enough to raise their brolly up, giving me some room. But that was rare!

Bah!

I hate brollys, I actually think they are rather dangerous when people are oblivious to others around them. They have those little metal bits on the ends of each spoke that would easily stick your eye badly, I'm always concious of that.

I like to think of myself as a competent umbrella operator.

I often give way and raise my umbrella when others are walking by, i have a huge golf umbrella because the smaller ones don't fully cover my broad shoulders.

There was a path which had scaffolding, so it essentially made the path very small on one side, and basically road on the other.

I was walking towards it on one side, and a person was approaching from the other. I could see would meet in the middle and bump and get annoyed, so i walked on the road bit. As she walked past she gave me a really nice smile, as i did back. Was almost enough to make me forget about the horrid rain. I would like to have known who she was so i could perv at her pictures on facebook!

Rainy mornings are always fun when taking my two to school. Why do women have to stand on the footpath talking with two umbrellas up, they then look at you gone out when you ask them to move.

Meh, they suck ... i also fear getting my eye damaged by a wayward brolly. I have had my face scrached before.

What annoys me is if the pavement is partly covered with some sort of shelter/awning and people with umbrellas walk under there. Even worse is if it's particularly narrow they expect you to walk into the rain to pass them.

I had a lady be kind today, as she passed, she lifted her brolly to clear mine. How helpful. Shame she was 5' and I'm 6'1 :\.

Must have left her go-go-gadget-arms at home :(

I usually make a point of knocking them out of my way if the Umbrella operative is not paying attention, if they're on the ball and move it out of my way I say thank you.

My umbrella is massive, infact it's possible the largest umbrella in history.

Ask some of the motors crew who lacked initiative :)

My umbrella operation skills are lacking through as I kept poking people in the face :p

I chuckled a bit :D

Reminds me, I need to get an umbrella

I suggest one with panels that are waterproof but not airtight, so wind blows through the brolly. Simple idea, works well, saves no end of fuss. I don't know why anyone buys any other kind, but if there's any wind and rain I'm bound to see brollies blowing inside-out and/or people with less flimsy brollies flailing around as their brollies catch the wind.

I think the underlying issue isn't umbrellas. It's the general lack of consideration for others that is sadly now the norm.

I don't understand why umbrellas are so big considering that someones head is small in comparison.

Rain doesn't only fall perfectly vertically.

People tend to prefer to keep as much of their body as possible out of the rain, not just their head.
