Fermi spotted in the wild

Na nowhere near as big, the 5870 goes past a standard ATX mobo by about 3 inches, this fermi pic shows it to be about the same length as an ATX mobo.

But they're running it on a Rampage II extreme, an E-ATX board?
I honestly think it will roughly the same length as the 5870.

Uh no, the 5870 is 28cm long, an ATX Mobo is 24cm wide and last time I looked 4cm does not equal 3", it equals 1.5".

Though from what I can see in the pic, the card looks to be around 25cm, going just a touch off the end of the board, not surprising, I think expecting the card to be any short than 24cm is a bit optometrist.

If they were using the rampage II extreme as it said it was, thats an e-atx board and it looks to just go slightly off.

It is? Looks like it goes past to me?

Measuring from the photo the pci-e slot is 25mm long and the card is 95mm long.

A pci-e slot in real life is 11.65mm so the card is 44.27 mm long or 17.4"

there may be flaws in my calculation such as perspective ;)

I'm just going by eye, but from looking at my own 5870 and then looking at the fermi pic and its size compared to the edge of the mobo, it looks not as big.

It's an extra inch.

is it just me but doesnt look like that fan is spinning

It's spinning, you could see the blades if it was not.

How much wider is the rampage 2 compared to a regular motherboard? I was actually considering an rampage 2 in a lian li v1000z, not even sure if it would fit now =/

If it was spinning fast enough though, then you wouldn't see through it would you, so how fast is that one going, 1 turn a day, as you can cleary see straight through it there, theres no blur or nowt. :p

The faster a fan spins the easier it is to see through it. Also that pic could be a result of shutter speed of the cam, ive taken pics of my system running and you would think the fans were static in the image when they weren't.
