*** 5800 Series Update ***

I have confirmation of a large volume of Sapphire 5850 leaving Hong kong today they will cover all back orders with plenty to spare. Realistically they will be here on Monday.

Do you have any info on the XFX? If nothing sure is known and if it doesn't appear before those Sapphire cards, I'd like to change my XFX card for the Sapphire. I'm ready to pay the difference just to speed things up.

Order no. OC912314

Ok i'm getting really dispondant now :(

Placed my order for a new complete rig on the 15th October, along with a 5850. I've changed the order so many times, and have made it quite clear I didn't mind which make of 5850 i get. Was told the VTX was the next card in so was changed to that, and now hear that others have been getting their cards through on the Sapphire's!

Whilst i'm made up for you guys for getting your long awaited cards, i'm just feeling a bit left out here.

Fatboy are you able to assist me please? Order No : 3466805

Cheers.

Totally agree with you same situation, have almost spent as much on phone calls to OC`er changing my order of a "Full system" to just about any card that come`s through the door just to finally receive the order i ordered what seems like an eternity ago. Also tired of hearing "Order will be in Monday or Friday" which year Fatboy?
We are all aware of the situation with the suppliers of the chips and cards, but i think after this fiasco is over OC`er should have a good look at their operating model, Taking money for something that they know they cannot deliver is at the least dodgy practice and worst total incompetence. I think this will certainly have a very negitive effect on OC`er reputation.

I think they could also keep customers with back orders informed with a realistic ETA, rather than having to hunt down Fatboys post every day

Another very dispondant customer.:(

tbh it's not OC fault in one sense but OC needs remove the pre order buttons or even remove the 5800 series untill they know they can fillful all the pre-orders

Why ? It says pre order that means you get it when they get it in stock i have been waiting a while now on my 5850 but im not complaining .

why would they turn buisness away by taking the 58XX off the site? The more demand we give to overclockers the more demand they give to the supplyers then the more likley we are of getting them in !

when they get stock let say 5-10 a week that goes to the pre-orders so technicaly that wouldn't mean "in-stock". also as the pre-order list grows the 5800 won't be "in-stock" for many weeks or even months.

some other sites have stop taking pre-orders for the 5800 series even removed them , i'm guessing because they can only get afew a week and it wouldn't be far to keep taking pre-orders when they have no idea when they'll get them.

also another thing OC takes your money straight away, so your more in your right to complain or whatever. if they didn't take the money then i think people wouldn't be getting mad or complaining ...

But how long should we have to wait without any firm information?

Any news on the Sapphire 5870? If it worth waiting for or is there a chance to change to a different 5xxx card that is in stock so I can get my whole new computer?

i was 29th in the que last week phoned up yesterday was 26th , the guy told me they would be getting about 25 5870's next week.

Funny isn't it, not supposed to be able to get 5800's, yet these guys are selling them 2 at a time now, honestly, the amount of back orders that could have been shifted, some people have been waiting nigh on 2 months now, but AMD are just using your cards for the 5970's. :/

There is obviously a perfectly legitimate explanation for this. AMD/ATI would NEVER do anything to make money. Its just not the done thing. ;)

Funny thing is, its not funny for those that have paid.

Well I just called OCUK and aparantly they cannot give me an ETA on when they expect the cards in, and also can't tell me where I am in the queue...
