I wonder what my rights would be if i bought and paid, up front for a new house, told everything was ready for me to take delivery in a few days, paid extra so i could decide when to move. but when the time came to move in, could not because the roof had not arrived, apparently poor yealds from slate suppliers!
Told 60 new Carlos fandango super dry XFX roofs will definatly arrive friday, monday at the latest, but if i want one i will have to pay extra. this i agree to as i have no home and urgently require one.
In frustration i check ads and forums for inspiration on what to do next, there i find all kinds of talk from others in same boat saying no chance of getting my roof this year, but i can possibly (after another drawn out wait) at even further expence (Twice original quote) get a new double decker roof to complete my dream home, but these are limited and will require money up front. Further investigation revealled these new super x2 roofs are made from the very same slate factory (who seem to be able to produce very expensive slate, no midrange, and lots of substandard slate that will need to be renewed far earlier than the other two).
Would the builder not be in court, or appearing on the next watchdog.
Of course i could always change houses again, accept a substandard or older style roof, or even cancel order completly, but i say " its my dream house i really want it, i have paid for it, and if i back out now i will still need a house and will no doubt end up on the bottom of someone else`s queue".
