Your Whisky collections!

Out of your list I've tried

Glenfiddich 12 yr
Glenfiddich 12 yr Speical Reserve
Glenfiddich 18 yr
Glenmorangie Original
Glenmorangie The Quinta Ruban
Highland Park 12 yr
Jamesons Irish Whiskey
Jamesons 12 yr special reserve.

My favorites were the Glenfiddich 18yr & the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban. THe Highland Park 12yr was disgusting.

What the Glenfiddich 21 yr like, and about how much does it cost?

Thanks

Currently have a newly opened bottle of Monkey Shoulder, although I dont think its classed as a single malt as its actually a triple malt!?

Still, its very, very nice stuff and well worth a taste.

I've never had a collection usually i just stick to the same brandy/whiskey/rum until i run out then i get a different bottle of brandy/whiskey/rum depends on how i'm feeling.

just cracked open a 12 year old macallan at the weekend

I have a cragganmore distillers edition, a royal lochnagar distillers edition, a clynelsh 14 year old and an ardmore all unopened

i'm only aloud 3 bottles by the misses at any one time so currently i have:

Johnnie Walker Blue Label - special occasion bottle i dip into now and again
Bladnoch 8year old - the first batch under their new owner, cask strength
Dalmore Gran Reserva - great rich smooth flavored.

I'd be interested to hear how the OP rates the La Santa, considering a bottle for Christmas, the Quinta Ruban i've had in the past was wonderful...

just about to order that and potentially a bottle of Jura 18 years as a backup ;)

RE monkey sholder i was pretty impressed with it, nice stuff for a cheap blend

Monkey Shoulder is supposed to be very similar to 15yo Glenfiddich. It's mostly Glenfiddich vatted with a couple of other Speysides.

It's waaay nicer than Glenfiddich 12yo (which is my current hot toddy filler, having been given a couple of bottles as presents).

And platypus - much as I like whisky, I'd rather it went down the loo than anything bad happened to you. Much respect.

Anyone positng JD or southerncomfort needs shooting then banning from this thread!

I've currently drank my supplies, but the best whiskey ive ever had was a 40yr old ben nevis single blended malt. Had some of this in a hotel years ago, cost me £15 for a double but it was the best whiskey ive ever tried!!!!

The £169.99 pricetag for a bottle isnt too appealing though haha

Shooting then banning? A little redundant don't you think?

Also, berating a bourbon and a liqueur in a thread... then praising a blended.... hmmmm.... ;)

I'm trying to finish off my bottle of blended & Jim Beam before a start on a single malt. Tried Auchentoshan on the channel ferry a few weeks ago but cant find it in the supermarkets. Only Retail place I've found it in is Majestics but I can't buy it there on its own.

I really fail to see how anyone can enjoy Jack Daniels neat, with coke it's ok, but without it's rough as.

J&B is a lovely whiskey, smooth and tasty, although it is priced similar to a single malt on offer, but then again JD is overpriced anyway.

Currently working my way through Laphroaig 10 y.o and a bottle of Bruichladdich 18 y.o.

Next up is between Lagavullin or an Ardbeg.

Hmm...

Off the top of my head I think I've got the following in the cupboard:
Lagavulin 16 yo
Ardbeg 10 yo
Glenfiddich 12 yo
Glen Moray (no age statement)
Talisker 10 yo (20cl)
Cragganmore 12 yo (20cl)
Wee Dram Lowland 17 yo (It's a bottling of Rosebank - a now dead distillery)
Glengoyne 10 yo
Glengoyne 21 yo (minature)
Clynelish 17 yo
Jura 10 yo
Famous Grouse

That's probably it at the moment. I'm not really a collector. I just like to have at least bottle on the go from each region. Missing a campbelltown at the moment.

Going to an Islay tasting on Friday. That could get expensive if I decide to buy...

Good for you in having the strength to get rid of it then, hope you do feel better for doing so. Sod whatever it cost.

I've seen what alcoholism does to people, its not pretty...
Thank you both. It certainly wasn't easy but I'm an awful lot better now :).
