*** 5800 Series Update ***

This is the first time I have ordered from OCUK and if their customer service is anything to go by, it will be the last. I have posted in the customer forums asking for some type of ETA, a week, a month or next year and I've not heard anything...not even a reply to tell me they don't have an ETA.

I find it shocking that they can't keep their customers up to date with a £1300 order they have placed.

They will normally respond to you within a few days.
I had a larger order than you on hold for several weeks, due to the shortage in carsd they will more than likely ship the rest of your order and the card when they have it.

I still don't have my 5870 but neither do many people... on the planet!
Pretty sure you should be blaming ATI for not ordering enough silicon! If you read the news you'll find that none of the graphics companies expected this many orders in this quarter.

Why don't you give them a ring or use the webnote system... they will normally respond to webnotes within 24 hours and are quite helpful if you actually speak to them on the phone.

Same. I think your card is asus too..

Damn my long waiting seems to be over (29.9).. "printed in our werehouse" should be collecting and shipping time if I´m right..

Yeah it is, I'm going to give them a call in a bit, see what it means.

Just spoke to the guys, delivery came today, mine will be arriving Monday!

Yep mine went another one.. Great, should have got one on the first batch.. And waiting game continues :mad::mad: Its great to be first in the queue list and still others get it before me

Ditto. Could someone please clear this up for me? What exactly is the hold up on the cards? I've read low yields from TSMC (which were supposed to fixed already), slow delivery methods and price jacking conspiracies. At the moment, it feels like all 3.

The product is on extreme allocation at the moment. We are getting more stock than anyone else in Europe. We are processing all orders as quick as possible and fairly.

It's mainly the first issue from what I gather.

Whether you purchased from here or a competitor you'd still be getting those problems.

Been waiting on the 5870's since 1/11, placed an order for over 2k rest of the stuff has arrived, just a shame i cant actually do anything with any of it till the cards arrive.

No one can blame OCUK tho, its down to ATI and its suppliers

Any news on the Gigabyte 5850's coming in yet?

Hows do the Sapphire's hold up to the Gigabyte, anyone had experience with Sapphire regarding RMA and the likes of that?

Stu

They are both exactly the same cards and have a similar warranty service. I should be seeing a few gigabyte in this week.

Use the WebNote system. I found that they're customer support is excellent and I've had no problems over the years.

Have to agree with Bazad, Decided to phone after not hearing from submitting many a webnote to Customer Service, the guy was as expected polite and helpfull when it came to taking more money from me, though the tone change dramatically when asked about my long overdue delivery. During the conversation i enquired about the webnotes sent a few day before - his answer "yes i see the web notes", well why dont you act on it or at least acknowledge it!!. Still i guess they are just so busy currently keeping all their customers with long over due back orders informed of the delays in supply to reply to a simple question "How much longer" - NOT!!!
Not sure i would use OC`ers ever again, which is a shame as i have used them since the early days. I`m sorry OC`ers but a spades a spade, check the forums - lots of negitive feedback, everything from dodgy "full OC systems" that wont OC and boot, through to poor communication over delays in delivery(or no delivery at all).

Fatboy you are the AXXO of the Forums;)

You cant blame OCUK for the lack of 58xx cards, every retailer is the same, scan,**** etc etc read their forums, every person who ordered a 58xx card is currently waiting delivery and complaining.

And to be honest if i worked in customer services for a computer dealer i reckon i would be a bit peeved by now with people phoning up and asking for delivery dates, poor bloke probably gets asked that question a 1000 times a day, wouldn't you get a bit pi**ed off with it after a while, i know i would.

I've been waiting a month now for two Asus 5870's, everything else i ordered turned up quickly.

The bottom line is, no one has any in the UK, so we either have to be patient and wait or cancel our orders and buy a lesser card that is in stock.

Its annoying i know, but those are the two choices.

Well you have obviously spat the dummy over one bad experiance and the backlog of the 58xx series is not oc's fault not to mention you wer one of the many thoudsands that have been bombarding them with webnotes , i have had nothing but fantastic service from these guys , just read the forums throughout everyone wants the 58xx series , as for the other "bad" i bet ther are 100 good reviews to one bad .

Pre order is what it says you get it when overclockers get it , and they take the money right away so that the demand is visible to the supplyer resulting in a much bigger piece of the cake ;)

There's some info from AMD about the stock situation over at Driverheaven:
In the very near future, as we overcome supply constraints, we will be increasing shipments of 5800 series graphics processors by roughly an order of magnitude, moving from thousands of units shipped per week to tens of thousands. This should alleviate some of the pent-up demand.

Use the WebNote system. I found that they're customer support is excellent and I've had no problems over the years.

That's not what Ive seen over the last couple of months, plenty of posts saying they got nowhere with the webnote system but got noticed by staff posting in the regular forums.

Its a pity. The idea was not to buy straight away but wto wait a month or so for prices to come down. Instead the opposite effect has happened. Now there is no stock and the prices have gone up from their already expensive state to an even MORE expensive state.

By the time Christmas is over and its "January sales" we will have "special offers"? that equal the original asking price :)

EDIT: The funniest thing is were in a recession and yet we have the worst choice of cards and worst prices in a long long time.

Well no, blame falls squarely at AMD for canning the 5850/70's, to hoard all the chips for the 5970's, its a disgrace, 2x 5800's on each of those, could have got shot of a lot of back orders from here. :/

yeh pretty annoying. wonder if they'll get some sorted for xmas...
