Gay Sex Scene in Dragon Age: Origins.

Let's spot the homophobes.

There are sex scenes in other games which have received less fanfare (except for Mass Effect, but that was a controversy made by people who had admitted they have never seen it), so it's interesting to see how people are so averse to the 'other team's' stuff. It's nothing but discrimination, pure and simple.

i really dont care what content is put in an 18+, itsw free game as far as im concerned. If you're worried about children watching this content then dont be - their parents arent.

So you are saying that it is ok for computer games - which we know and accept children are going to get their hands on - to contain scenes of sex (gay or otherwise)?

Call me a fuddy-duddy but I would rather no see this kind of thing.

A few years ago my opinion might have been different, but with a kid of my own on the way I seem to have got more conservative in my views.
 
Well I've not played a lot of the game yet, but don't you have to go a huge bunch of questions and dialog before you can even get newer dialog options which would lead in the direction of sexual interaction with the character? I guess my point is, it's not like all of a sudden during the game a giant penis invades your screen in the attempt to turn you gay, and to get to the scene you'd have to follow the relevant dialog options meaning you'd have to actually WANT to view the scene.

Not having gay options in a video game like this one, or Mass Effect, or the Sims (etc) purely due to people worrying that it'll promote "alternate life style" is just discriminative. May as well say game's can't have any fat people as it'll promote health risks.

There are things on TV like the gay scenes in EastEnders that kids are more likely to see than an 18-rated game.

Yeah. If you play as a guy the only guy that will sleep with you is an elf you can OPTIONALLY invite into your party. Once he's in you have to ply him with gifts and flirty inuendo to get him to bed you. Once there you see about 20 seconds of two guys canoodling with pants on. That's it. He'll also sleep with you if you're a woman. He'll also sleep with you and a female npc at one point if you suggest it (you get to see nothing). He is the easiest party member you can bed and you do get an achievement for it:

I really can't believe anything is being made out of this. It's pure homophobia and nothing more. In a hobby being held back by cliche and the fear of doing things differently, kudos for Bioware for behaving progressively and at least attempting to bring not shooty adult themes to the table.

Now I know it has an 18 certificate but we all know that won't stop kids getting their hands on the game and this scene is easily accessed via character selection and a few dialog options.

I just don't think computer games are the right forum for this kind of obvious alternative life style promotion.

Why does it bother you? Personally I’d prefer not to have to put up with religion on TV, but I accept that it’s a way of life for some, and let it pass – as I do with people’s sexuality; we’re all different and the days of being outraged about same sex relationships (I feel) are long gone.

Frankly I love the fact the majority of people are open, but I guess we will always have prudes and those who simply can’t loosen up (pardon the pun!); such as yourself I wager…

No of course not actually as I have said before I have gay friends. The difference is, what does on in their bedrooms is their business and stays in their bedrooms - they don't go flaunting their sexual activities in public and neither do I.
 
i think the problem most people (inc me) are having is that you associated gay with wrong. What i mean is if it was a stright scene (men and women) you wouldn't of mentioned it here. TBH i dont care if kids see gays kissing in my mind its the same as a man and women kissing, if your saying kids should be protected from it your saying its not right which i think is a load of bull its a part of life.

When do people play games in public?

People generally play games in their bedrooms they dont flaunt their gameplaying in public.

So what goes on in a gameplayers bedroom is their own business. Stick to your own advice. :p
