Is a Wii a good gift for the Mrs !?

Hi console owners.

Xmas is near and I was thinking of getting a wii for the mrs. I have never used or seen one but only heard good things.

Would this be a good gift with longevity or is it a short lived fad !?

Sell your Wii fit to me then for a bargainous price. I'll offer more than what a paperweight is worth!

I'd say it is a good present, sure, just make sure they're into some of the games. There are lots of singing/dancing games that would be good, and don't forget the classics like mario cart.

The machine can also use iplayer properly now, and browse photos via SD card, so it's not a one trick pony, though a lot of the titles are total gash with not many good ones on the horizon.

If she gets bored of it you could always sell it on to someone who doesn't have one.

Hi,

bought my wife a wii the christmas of release she was a big gamer loved the 360 but made me sell the wii within 2 weeks she thought it was rubbish :rolleyes:

lol So tbh depends on your wife really. She wanted one but was disapointed with it. I am sure there are safer bets for xmas gifts than a wii for your wife

Well i was quite subtle yesterday.

The local Tesco has a ps3, xbox 360 and wii all set up so i took the Mrs for a "browse".

She spent about 10 mins on the wii and loved it, so I've made my mind up

my wife uses it more than our PS3/360, but more so at weekends when gaming with our daughters.

Wiis are cack. It's a control system with an under-specced console tagged on.

Fun for a short while but you wouldn't want to keep one for too long.

my 6 year old still loves mario kart on the wii due to the easy control mechanism of physically turning the wheel.

The wiis primary market is non gamers.

If your a hardcore gamer already with a PS3 or Xbox, you might find it lacking. If your mrs is the sort that has never touched a computer game in her life, she will love the wii.
