Hi,

Couldn't find a thread so starting one - who has seen Paranormal Activity?

Just got back from watching it - definitely rated high on my films, absolutely loved it! Didn't have to try with crazy effects and terrified the crap out of me!

Who else has seen it? What did you think?

Ive just been to see this with my bf scared me to death ! I really get creeped out by ghost movies more than any other kind of horror film ... im still a bit freaked out now.

A pile of turd? I seriously cannot beleive people find this remotely SCARY. BBC Ghos****ch from 1992 or so - the one that caused a stir of media controversy - that is scary.

I love horror films but this was a complete joke in every way. PA is about as frightening as that episode of Only Fools & Horses where the lads go off to Boycie's fishing hut at night and encounter an axe murder.

Saw this tonight.

loads of people on here will be ZOMG I AM FROM THE INTERWEBZ AND AM A MACHO MAN I WAS NOT SCARED!

Personally, I felt it did a good job in terms of audience, it related everything to the audience. For example, the majority of the scenes were in the bedroom, most of us have lofts outside our rooms as well as a staircase...

It being shot handheld only makes it feel more realistic as well. My two mates walked out with goosebumps and the girls in the cinema were screaming.

BUT NOT ME! I'M FROM THE INTERWEBZ 1/10

Haha! I thought it was good - mainly because for the main part the spooky elements weren't over the top ala The Fourth Kind or something but relatively understated, and stuff you probably would **** yourself if it happened at your home!

I've seen it with the better ending. I did not sleep very much that night.

Can you believe pixar(whomever) werent going to release it, but going to cgiify it(make it new but better), that tells you they really havent got a clue especially with the updated ending.

which one the dvd ending from 2007 dvd import?

theres suposed to be an alternate ending only ever played once where she commit suicide aswell. that they used for some film festival years ago.

I believe that, in total, there are four or five endings but am not at liberty to divulge some of them (at request of the filmmakers).

I've only been privy to a home viewing via screener, but will still be popping into the cinema to see this. In fact, might do so this weekend...mainly just to see it with an actual audience and feel the vibe, etc.

The version I saw, I thought was pretty good but must concede that it is an overhyped piece of work. It's good, but not THAT good.

A massive pile of overhyped garbage. Scary? Yeah, right - if you're retarded enough to believe anything.

Or a pile of $15,000 filmmaking that's gone on to make $100,000,000 at the U.S. box office two years later.

The filmmakers never knew this level of exposure was going to happen when they made it and anyone going to watch anything other than a budget 'amateur' movie should have read up on it more.

Plus, this sort of movie is aimed at women anyway.

You suck. What about the people that genuinely didn't find it scary (like me)? You believe that it's impossible not to find this film scary, and that anyone saying otherwise is employing some kind of faux internet bravado?

The film was lame.

Blair witch meets Exorcist.

The film is not bad in its own right, the media hype around it is what sucks and makes it out to be something its not and was never intended to be.

If you believe in this sort of thing then i can see why people may be scared by it, but as a total none believer it was over the top nonsense

Very creepy movie.
Not the 'scariest movie ever' but it was pretty creepy and semi believable imo.
I liked it.

Well seeing as a lot of people do believe in the paranormal you're calling a massive percentage of the population retarded. It's not like we are being asked to believe some 12 legged, 3 headed monster is doing the haunting...

Yes, it's acted, yes, it's not genuine footage but if anyone thought otherwise it's them that are 'retarded'

You suck. I wasn't particularly scared by the film either but I can understand why others would be. I'm not saying it's impossible to not be scared by it but in terms of horror films this one does a very good job at scaring those that are provoked by the genre.

It has lots of problems, but compared to a lot of other films that are supposed to be scary this one new a little bit about what people find scary and attempted to portray it on screen as real and as down to earth as possible.

What ruined it somewhat for me was they had to explicitly spell out what it was and have that online rubbish, which just turned it into another hollywoodisation of reality.
