Anyone done any cool roadtrips?

Drove to morocco, was epic lulz.
Made it there and back with no issues, luckily.

Heading out towards Erg Chebbi, unfortunatley I messed up the route so we ended up on a dirt track, but we made it.

Up on the hilltop in Agadir, quite a good view!

It was actually surprisingly easy, the big bonus was having a blackberry bold with unlimited international data, made navigation extremely easy compared to paper maps.

Also done Los angeles-Las Vegas-Sanfran, if that counts, driven throughout the UAE in a Jag S Type,

Road trips are fun if you have the correct company, otherwise they are boring.

Used to go with my dad when I was younger around europe as he was a long distance truck driver, france, belgium, germany, poland, italy and everywhere inbetween. Definately some of the best summers.

Got on planned for 2011. Fly to Vegas then around the Grand Canyon taking in Zion, Bryce Canyon, Monument valley etc. on the way.

Was going to be 4 of us, but the sister-in-law has got herself up the duff, so probably just me and the missus.

Drove down to the south of France for a week in the sun.

Best though started off as an idea for a driving holiday in the USA with my best mate and soon turned into a driving holiday across the USA. Booked flights into JFK and out of LAX 17 days later, a hire car, and 2 nights hotel in NY. Other than that, we had no plan, just an idea of a few places to visit on the way.

Route ended roughly New York > Washington DC > through Chicago > head west to South Dakota for The Badlands National Park and Mount Rushmore > south to Denver > through the Rocky Mountain National Park > Salt Lake City > Bonneville Salt Flats (6 hour detour to see lots of salt and a sign!) > Las Vegas > through Death Valley National Park > Los Angeles.

Awesome trip. :D

Student Breakaway last year was my biggest so far 3600miles in 2 weeks.

London>Antwerp>Interlaken>Jesolo(Italy) via Stelvio etc > Llubjana(Slovenia) > Zadar (croatia) > Lake Como > Milan > Nice/Monaco > Millau > La Rochelle > Paris > London.

This roadtrip will be in an Astra 1.7diesel ecoflex, so it won't be a fast one, but it should be fun. ;)

I did a good one last year come to think of it. Hired a Lincoln Navigator, the largest one available, and did 3 weeks driving up the Californian coast.

Los Angeles >
San Diego >
Tijuana (walked border) >
Santa Barbera >
Monteray >
San Francisco >
Yosemite >
Las Vegas >
Los Angeles.

Most awesome time of my life. 6 of us doing it and had a whale of a time.

Did the Smith-Dorrien Trail in the Canadian Rockies a few years back now, was super sexy!

Did this in 12 days earlier this year with a friend.

Zolder circuit
Hockenheim circuit and Museum
Nurburgring for a few days
Neuschwanstein Castle
Stelvio Pass (and lots of other Alpine passes)
Didn't stay in Switzerland for long (£££)
Spent a day wandering around Paris
Spent a day in a sea side town called Cayeux sur mer

Only changes I would make now is 1) Take more time, 12 days was a bit rushed 2) Go through Reims to have a look at the old circuit that's being restored. I visited it many years ago when it was just a bunch of derelict buildings, and I didn't know a lot of restoration work had been done on it when we did this trip.

Nothing as crazy/far as most of the above but I drove all around Florida including a 7 hour trip from Key West. Did a 2 day hoon around wales too, got some nice pics I will post up this evening

Ooh yes gravel indeed, how I wished we had some sort of rally car instead of a Ford Explorer, was still really cool though! Desperately want to go back there sometime soon.

I got 2 aeriel pics of it from a helicopter trip we had too:

We did one last summer which was pretty damn awesome, the trip consisted of:

Birmingham - Dover - Callais - Lille - Paris - Lyon - Milan - Zurich - Munich - Nuremburg - Nurburgring - Brussels - Home!

Someone messed up the directions on the satnav and instead of being at the Nurburgring, we ended up in Nuremburg lol. Overall it was an amazing trip, saw so many excellent places such as the San Siro, and all the jaw-dropping beautiful women in Milan!

Oh, and as a car, we bought for the princely sum of £700, a J-reg Mercedes 300D. Spent two weeks before hand piddling around with servicing it, and then attempting to produce our own bio-fuel (worked very well, except the fuel filters kept getting clogged, and there was the smell of fried goods whenever you booted the car around).

Amazing journey. Definately worth doing again.

Home to Monte Carlo and back in a week, stopping off at some epic château on the way down and back. Close to 3000 miles in 1 week and some fantastic mountain runs in the GT3 and a couple of laps of the GP circuit at Monaco for good measure, though sadly in road traffic.
