Nokia N900

looks a nice phone, but no portrait use ?, it makes it a two handed phone only... means walking and using it becomes abit silly as you need both hands ?

often I pull out phone when moving about just one hand to what I want... a app, news, email, sms.. you cant do this without dropping the thing now ?

just a thought

Wait until its in store and have a play, no need in rush buying something expensive if you are not sure about it. But as I keep saying, its not a phone, its a pda with a phone chip in it. Then again last time I was in a phone shop, there was some sort of a horisontal sony erricson looking thing.

Personally I prefer to use 810 with keyboard and the rear support "leg" out, this gives awesome grip without the wrist ache.

There is ahuge effort going on with the maemo devs to get portrait mode and MMS up and running ASAP. This is what I like about the phone, the community behind it..

Cancelled my contract with O2 earlier, couldn't be bothered to wait and their 3G reception isnt much to crow about generally, Vodafone looks a touch (not much) better for areas I frequent.

Any more news on delivery from MPD as that who I will be ordering through, need to get my PAC code over the text first so their idea of the 3rd Dec would work out spot on if they have any left!

MPD are taking the pee at the moment - their website still states 'exclusive availability in late november'. Not heard anything about my order. Annoying.

Got mine today - first impressions - quite unimpressed. The OS is actually rather clunky, landscape mode use is very annoying. This definitely is a tablet first and a phone second. I have to work and Ill play around with it some more, when hopefully my impressions will improve! (I do like the mail for exchange sync and seamless chat/messenging functions however).

Cry. :(:(

What did I say about buying this as a phone... Buy it as a pda and be happy it can make phone calls and access the net without bluetooth with your mobile.

Urgh, my bad, what I mean was:
Being able to access the net without using your mobile via paired bluetooth... My sentance structure is bad tod... all the time :p

Just poped down to the regent street store to have a play with one. Very nice phone :) Not as heavy as I thought and seemed very responsive. The keyboard is nice and easy to use and it seems well built.

Oddly, considering they have stock shortages and no definate date of delivery, they were really pushing the device with about 5 members of staff outside handing out flyers about it being available with free bluetooth headphones and then 2 people inside with the actual phone demoing it.

Hmm, i wonder if that means that they've changed their mind about it really only being aimed at Devs?
