Health & Safety hits Christmas Tree

We got told we're not allowed to put tinsel up this year because of health and safety. It's gone mad, beyond a joke and into the realms of tedious frustration.

I await 2020 when we're all going to have to wear signs outlining our liability as humans to be prone to anger outbursts, robbery, murder, rape, sobbing and streaking.

It's not because of the tinsel. It's because you're probably not allowed to "work at height".

Get a permit to work and you should be fine :p

Someone's clearly a health and safety officer!

I'll just get my torch...

Just kidding, I'm good friends with the H&S manager in my office. I still taunt him though... :p

wierd, to be honest though our christmas tree in the middle of the magic roundabout is laughable, it's got a few cheap rope lights on it and surrounded by metal fencing, looks really *****. In a ***** area though to be honest.

why are they not allowed one because of H&S but every other council and shopping centre in the country is?
I noticed that the manchester one was constructed, which was a bit weird, seemed to be a genuine wood trunk, and real branches, but they weren't attached when the tree arrived, the branches were attached one by one.

Would he not also need some sort of certificate stating that he is qualified to erect tinsel and other decorative trappings so he can sign off on the work, stating that it has been performed withing regulation?

There is one of those in a Cheshire town, my mouth dropped when I saw it as it is unbelievably ugly
The council used to decorate the (living) tree on the roundabout with fairy lights and it looked really good. This year the lights only go up to head height (H&S again) and it looks totally stupid

I reckon Christians should burn all this crap in protest, it's considered their festival and this is just taking the ****.

Is there some IQ test you have to badly fail to be a city official or something?

god this country gets more and more fully star out swearys! - Thundycat. up every year, seriously in like 10 years we really cant imagine the changes that are going to happen! time to get out while we still can lol and find somewhere cheaper with more hot girls to live :D

To be fair to them they at least have an excuse, high winds + massive tree weighing a hell of a lot and balanced on a very small base is not really a great mix and I imagine having robes etc to make it anywhere near stable probably ruin the look to.
