Best Sennheisers for Essence STX

Would the top of the range HD 800's be overkill the for stx...listen rock music, watch movies, and gaming. I think they are 300ohm..would the stx headphone amp be able to drive them. Or would I be better off with HD 595 50ohm phones ?

The HD650 l have are 300ohm and from what l can say the STX can drive them without a problem. Well if you have the money then the HD800 would be a very nice purchase for a Xmas present.

Suppose its the same with all audio equipment. Past a certain point and you pay lots for little improvement

Whoops! I was looking at Senns for half that price. Must have got the model mixed up. I think 595's will do me.

nah, you said top of the range senns. Then again there is the 900 range and 1000s and HD1000 Charleston. So 800s are average!

Well if you have money to spend then the 650's are a huge improvement over the 595's. The 600's aren't really worth it as the 650's aren't that much more, Senn really need to make them £150.

the hd650's are better than the 600's right? i remember seeing the 650's for around 200 now i can't find it anymore.

You will have to search harder now, Sennheiser seems to have hiked the price of their more expensive phones. The 595 were £90 not long back, now they are about £110-£120.

Some people prefer the 600 over the 650, it's comes down to what you prefer in headphones really. However, I will say that the bass is definitely better in the 650.

If I were you I'd for something like the HD 595, should be able to find for about 110.

No, the HD 555 because they are in a similar price point, albeit closer than the HD 595 is to the HD 515.
