Got my 295 back today and so far nothing but problems, specifically after i install driver a blue screen with the old "page_fault_in_nonpaged_area.

This has happened on vista 64 and win 7 64, same error. Ive tried several driver revisions and no change, tried putting the card into a different pci-e slot, no change. Turned off my overclock, no change, plugged my power cable into the wall directly incase the surge protector was somehow affecting it, no change.

One thing i will note is that the other day while using my 3870x2 mw2 locked up and rebooted the system, ever since that i was getting an ati error message and was unable to reinstall the card on either vista 64 or 7 64. Im assuming its possible that the card crashing could have possibly affected the motherboard in some way as i had no problems before that.

Mobo is an asus p5q-e psu coolermaster modular 850, q6600, kingston hyperx ram 1066 2x2gigs.

Any ideas?

No other systems to try it in, ive another mobo but its an older board that doesnt support quad cores.

Tried removing and booting with one stick of ram?

Could be a dead/faulty stick causing you problems. Computers are a pita at the best of times.

The thing i find strange is earlier today before this arrived it was running fine with an 8500gt, seems a bit odd that 2 multi gpu cards just suddenly stop working on this board. Even tried updating the bios with no change =/

Are you using auto (SPD) timings in BIOS for RAM? Also, give your HDDs a proper checking with enterprise-grade tools, no seatools etc as they're all naff.

OK so far ive checked 2 different video cards, the 295 and the 3870x2 and both blue screen on booting to windows, every time without fail.

Ive ran the full scandisk and no errors were found.
Ive tried different ram in the board, still get the bsod so that pretty much rules out dodgy ram as the other ram works with no probs in my shuttle.
Ive formatted windows 7 and installed vista 64, again bsod (page_fault)

Ive got a spare mobo here with a pentium d i can try the card on, but from the looks of things id say the motherboard seems to be the cause of the problems. Slightly hard to believe 2 gpu cards are bad whereas the single gpu 8500gt works fine.

I'd sign up to the Asus forums and get posting straight away..

I don't like the Asus asus p5q board. My friend bought one with a new cpu and ram last week, I spent the whole day saturday setting it up with my Radeon 4870 which I sold him. Each time you tried to install the ATi CCC and Drivers the computer would reboot itself!!

Strangely enough.. I installed Windows Service Pack 3 (this is on XP) and it stopped it happening.. very strange board.

OK at the minute ive tried both the 295 and the 3870x2 in a different system thats on my desk, its an older gigabyte board with 2 igs of ram and a pentium d. Same issue, the nv card throws up the page_fault error and the ati card the kdmag.sys error.

The only 2 components form my main system is the ide hard drive and the dvd rom, even using a totally differerent psu at the minute, corsair 850. So looks like its possibly the hard drive causing the issue, not exactly sure how though. Gonna try a different sata drive and see what happens.

Well after much messing i can only assume the card is at fault. Even in the windows install as soon as it hits the part where is installing display drivers it just craps out with a bsod. Ive tried a different motherboard, cpu, ram psu, optical drive and hard drive, theres really nothing more i can try. rma time again it seems :(
