Test-Tube Bacon!

this could mean you get the best prime cow/pig and use that to grow your bog standard bacon :D

Thats what I'm thinking. In theory, you could consistently grow the best meat the human race has ever seen.

Bear in mind though that the best quality food doesnt necessarily sell the most. I remember the furore with genetically modified vegetables - these vegetables were genetically enhanced to look better and resist rot, for longer. In theory these vegetables should be seen as a god send, however, proved not to be the case. Perhaps GM foods have arrived a little too early for some people to accept.

Personally, if I could, I would only eat GM foods, as I know that they have modified to deliver a better product. And I like better products.

The same people that have a go at genetically modified crops are the same people bleeting on about helping starving Africans, I find it most ironic.

Is this the end for vegiterians then ? what reason would there be to be one?

I was going to say Religion/Beliefs.

But then that just gives rise to so many more questions... You have a slight point.

But then there's always preference. Who knows what final product is like.

I wouldn't, it won't taste any good I'd bet my life on it.
An animal needs to mature and age properly, not be grown in a lab in a few weeks, killed and stuck on the plate. Intensively farmed water injected rubbish is bad enough, don't understand why you'd pay money for that rubbish, tastes like crap in comparison to proper meat and shrinks a lot.

perhaps because if eh technique is perfected it will be properly aged and taste great. Not water injected rubbish. As I already said it should be possible to get fat content and fat spread exactly where you want it. Also growing rare or hard breads become extremely easy and cheap and lets not forget the tenderest meat you have ever had. Although lets be honest this is a long way off.

More realistic solution is to turn the obese into Soylent Green.

But then you'd just be making everybody else fat by making them eat loads of re-processed saturated fats, surely? :p

Speaking of which, this seems like a good way to potentially cherry pick the nutrients in animal meat products.

he means in the sense that they're close to the ground and poop everywhere, granted, I know pigs are actually clean animals, they have a designated pooping area and are in theory cleaner than cows, but it's not my religion or view, so it's not for me to debate, and I'm certainly not going to be one of those people trying to force beliefs on someone because their religion is "wrong" as some people would lol :p

Your mate's talking nonsense.

It's not about them being "dirty" it's any animals that are carnivorous.

Or more accurately, only animals that are exclusively vegetarian by nature.

Most grown meat tastes horrible though unless you buy proper stuff.

The majority are happy with MacDonald's crap though so for them it'd be fine anyway.

So far the scientists have not tasted it, but they believe the breakthrough could lead to sausages and other processed products being made from laboratory meat in as little as five years’ time.

Yes, because discovering something and putting it into commercial process quickly is always a good idea... right, Monsanto?
