Subwoofer for in the car, budget 200-300

No offense, I know better then to take advice from someone who spends thousands on an i20 .

I have an Alpine 1242D Type R 12" sub in the boot with a Kenwood 1800W amp (can't remember the model, it's discontinued now) and that has an output of 550w RMS. I definitely think you're better off with a single sub+amp combo.

No offence taken ;)

However, as RobbieG so eloquently put it, 550w of sub-woofer in a metal box "will be fine if you're not at all fussy.".

You certainly will not get very far passing yourself off as an audiophile.

550w max would be more believable.. so maybe 200w RMS.

A single sealed 12" and a good cheap amp (JBL stuff would be fine) would be louder, take up less space and probably sound better :)

Are you replacing any of the other components - speakers, HU etc? If not, any claims to wanting decent SQ can go out the window

Hah i know people running more than 550wRMS through their tweeters for SQ, gain very low ofcourse.

I never said I'm an Audiophile, I don't want to waste too much time on it I just want a quick & easy install for extra bass... I don't want better sound quality, I want more bass... I don't want replace my headunit.

But anyways, how about this then:

Well, I can say I want more bass, far more probably, than I currently have at home from my Z5500's at full volume...

no one has z5500s at full volume :p

i have a £150 sub/amp combo (10" sub and a 150w amp) from car audio direct and that does plenty bass for rock music, even korn sounds good. it also is powerful enough to make the mirrors shake.

z5500 don't have tight bass in the slightest, more of lots of crap :D Agree with you on the volume, above 70% they just distort and sound like crap anyway.

Get a single small sub with a separate amp. Although going by your attitude trying to convince you of what will sound best isn't on your list of things to have, you just want lots of 'bad boi' bass.

I also suspect from a well known brand such as "Raveland", the figures should be taken with a pinch of salt

Get yourself a single 10/12inch and monoblock amp if all you want is some bass, I got my JBL GT4 for £2 from ebay and that certainly adds enough bass to my up front components.

That will sound ridiculous, you need to lpf a sub at around 80hz or below, not 160!
