Boy, four, mauled to death by bulldog.

I hope some people go to jail for this.

We can't keep treating dog deaths as "tragic accidents". The parents are criminally negligent and should be punished to the full extent of the law.

Question 1) Why was the 4 year old child not in bed in a secure bedroom at midnight?
Question 2) How did the dog get access to the child?
Question 3) Why was an illegal dog ( pit pull or type ) not reported on a regular basis by neighbours?

Answers:- 1) Liverpool. (they're nearly all scally scum)
2) Who knows?
3) Because scally scum breed illegal dogs to sell and also to look big/cool.

Total answer: stop ****s being able to breed or have dogs!

1) The child was in bed at the time, the dog pull him out of bed.

2) The door was open, the dog could possible open doors? I know of cats that can do that pretty easily.

3) It was reported by neighbours

Answers 1) Don't be so up yourself. It's hardly the city's fault for there being people like this. Such things happen across the country and they're hardly nearly all scum.

Answer 2) Already answered

Answer 3) Such dogs are a problem all over the country, not just Liverpool, it is scum that breed and condition them, but it's no way contained only in Liverpool.

Have an opinion, it's fine, don't generalise so much though.

This really ****es me off because everyone blames the dog, but really its the owner 100%. And there saying 'pitbull type dog'. WTF is that, things like this give that breed a bad name, pitbulls are really a lovely breed just people train them wrong which gives them a bad name. It was probaly a staffy which did it, now staffys are going to have a bad name cos of the idiot who sed 'pitbull type dog'

especially things like this gives a bad name to big dogs.

surprisingly enough, you'll find most everyone here had been if the opinion that it's not really the dog's fault.

I was quite surprised at how straight the news has conveyed it as well. They'rve not condemned the dog at all, rather the people who condition the dog to be that way.

OK, sorry to be so sweeping in my opinions BUT...
I don't believe for one second that the dog opened the bedroom door and dragged the child from it's bed....not in a milllion years!

The attitude of "you're a grass if you tell!" that prevails amongst the ordinary, working class people in this country when illegal things go on should be seen for what it is .... misguided, illiterate and uninformed ****e!
If you want to live in a society that protects thieves, murderers and other ****s then you will get this sort of thing ..... speak out and stop it! ands do it together.
Maybe we can all live a little bit easier then.

This is why you should have a licence to own a dog.

Pass a basic knowledge test, have your house inspect to see if you have the right house and the amount of time needed.

Im actually insulted by your comments about liverpool. If it wasnt for the fact that you said nearly I would be even more upset than I am now.

Yes there is a large populace of scallys, chavs ect in the city but its no worse now than any other city in the country.

End of the day this could have easily happened in any other city in the UK and more than likely does but you dont hear about it.

Still very sad for a young life to be cut short by a dangerous and potentially illegal animal.

These type of dogs have been bred to fight and kill through selective breading.

Pit Bulls / Staffies were bred for fighting bulls, (bull baiting) This is how they got the name.

The dogs are pack animals, and do enjoy company, play, love and affection and return it too. They are dangerous. The physical make-up especially the jaw is designed to mutilate and devastate. The skull and muscles are dislike the majority of dogs, selectively bread to do the most damage possible.

Any dog can bite, due to poor training or unfortunate circumstances. The result is rarely serious. However in the case of these breeds, the owners should be held 100% responsible. It's akin to leaving a loaded gun.

The uncle should be done for manslaughter tbh, simples.

I agree with you. But what about the cops?
if they would have done there job right this would not of happend.

""Merseyside Police said it had a report of dog breeding in February and was investigating why no action was taken. It said the lack of action was "contrary to policy"

Sad news. This will now kick start the police into rounding up the "pitbull type" dogs again, you watch....

I'm sure they will blame it on video games somehow...:o

MW2 airport scene obviously put the idea in the dogs head to attack a human *nod*

Very sad news indeed. :( RIP little fella. :(

I have to say though, I'm not too surprised at the bandwagon. If the photo in the article is accurate (we'll see) the breed is American Bulldog. Nothing to do with pit bull terriers, and a damn good breed - I should know, I've owned enough of them! You can't account for owners though, but that's another story.

I love how the uninformed start spouting about dogs bred for fighting, or for 'combat' with other animals. For one thing, the American Bulldog is, with very rare exception, a farmers' dog from the Southern states, used to control cattle and wild boar. They're not fighting dogs, and are often maintained in packs. Not that there's anything wrong with 'fighting' dog breeds - they usually make excellent pets. You just don't hear about the millions of them NOT biting kids.

"ZOMG pit-bull-sort-of-thing mauls child!!one!!" - Front page.
"Collie scars child" - two column inches on page 7, no photos.

For those who mentioned the dogs bred/designed to 'fight' other animals - what of Boxers (bull baiting dogs), Great Danes (large game hunters), Greyhounds (still used all over the world including the UK to catch and kill anything up to the size of a deer), Foxhounds (self explanatory)... Animal aggression does NOT equal people aggression.

Unfortunately, however, big muscled dogs DO tend to be attractive to chavs and those in want of a penile extension. Please don't confuse cause with effect.

I hate stories like this, but if idiots will own known vicious/unpredictable dogs then its not a matter of if but when the inevitable will happen. The blame lands fully with the owner of the dogs and the parents of the child, have they no thought or consideration for potential dangers when breeding dogs and raising children.

RIP Little guy :(

BUT

"Merseyside Police said it had a report of dog breeding in February and was investigating why no action was taken. It said the lack of action was "contrary to policy".

So the police failed this boy. What the hell do they do for there pay?

They fill in endless paper work.

Some dog owns need a good slap in the face and require common sense. No matter how good you think the dog is with kids, never leave it alone with a kid!
