** Official ATI 5770 Thread **

Does anyone who has them in crossfire also find that occasionaly crossfire is disabled when windows starts? It's very annoying as I have to check every time.

Can't say i've come across that.

Only annoying thing i've got is that MSI Afterburner refuses to set the OC settings at startup, have to keep manually loading the profile

Does anyone have a preference on which 5770 to buy?

I want to upgrade my 9800gt to something with a little more kick and the 5770 is in my price range.

I'm not bothered about any out of the box overclock i'm much more interested in better cooling so any help would be appreciated :)

Now my 5770s have started playing up...

Just tonight I've had three lockups.

Two where the screen has changed to a set colour.. meaning I have to reboot.

One where the screen has locked up when loading a Battlefield 2 map online.

Very odd, I think its to do with the 2d clocks though! As my LCD Screen on the G15 has shown the one card to be doing 3d and the other doing 2d speeds.. urghhhh

Where are the 9.12 drivers when I need them? :p

until i flashed my cards to the asus bios

one card was idleing 157/300 other 275?/925 something like that

one card never went down to 157/300

now they both playing in sync

might have been a combo of flashing and then installing the latest hotfix drivers

i dunno

are the 5770's not supported in everest? trying to get the info onto my g15 but doesnt pick up the card. gives me nothing on the GPU tab :(

v5.30.1900

9.11 cats

also amd gpu tool said no device found everytime i try and open it =/

I had that same problem maddness it seemed to go away after I'd applied the defaults in the catalyst control center overdrive section.

I'm running Cat 9.11s with the Dirt2 hotfix aswell.

I'll report back each time it starts playing up again :o

fitted the enzotech ramsinks tonight and slapped a yate loon fan blowing over the card, rams much cooler now and the fitment is really nice, doesnt touch the waterblock at all.

will do some more checking to see what extra clocks I can manage, although im not too hopefull of much :)

Well was thinking of getting two 5770's in crossfire, but worried that the drivers will screw up its performance and i might have well waited for a 5800. Also the fact that some games dont support crossfire that well and i was just worried that by getting these 5770's i might make a big mistake. So either 2 5770's in crossfire, a gtx 285, or wait for a 5850 or a 5870? help you guys :)

I've got the card and I've got 2 problems:
1) Swiftech MCW60 waterblock doesn't fit.
2) ATi Tray Tools doesn't work anymore.

For the first problem should I modify the block and the card to make them fit which involves filing the PCB, or get a new block?

NOT A GTX285!!!!!!!!!! What about a 4890? Really you should be starting a new thread for this mate.

or wait a little and get the ek block for it - ones on its way, not sure if oc will get though

HELP
I've got another problem, Catalyst control center won't save any changes when I apply them in the 3D section and I can't find the Overdrive.
EDIT: Actually theres lots of things missing, I only have Video, 3D, Desktop properties, Display Options, Information Center and Welcome. That can't be right.
Is the installation corrupt?

1 more question who ever has 5770 with egg shaped cooler does memory have heatsinks ?

Not on my Asus. The memory and vrm's are bare. Well they were anyway. I stuck Zalman ramsinks on my memory chips and made a heatsink for the vrm's. I took the shroud off the Egg as well so it's just the bare heatsink. Look's better but i don't know if it makes it cooler or quieter as i did it before fitting the card in the pc. Stuck some MX-2 on the core instead of the gunk it came with too.

Has anyone with 5770 crossfire benched the Dirt 2 demo yet?

I'm getting realy crap FPS :( with my Asus 5770 CF.

The Swiftech won't fit no matter what you do to it. I have the same problem with my Aquaextreme MP-1. The only block i have found that will fit is the XSPC X2O VGA Waterblock which is quite old now and cost's around £22. EK does have a full cover block coming out soon but it will cost almost half the price of the card and only fit a 5770. Personally i think these full cover blocks are a total waste of money.
