Also when I fire up a game, for the first 1/2 second I will get a screenshot thats corrupt/pixelled of the last game I played!

Windows 7 ultimate 64bit retail buddy, and my Abit IP35 pro BIOS is up to date, realy realy strange.

have you tried the usual

removing all drivers / driver sweeper / driver cleaner pro

reinstall of windows

monitor is connected to the top card right?

bridges in place securely

it does seem like a motherboard issue if not drivers

It was a fresh install of Windows 7, with 9.11 drivers

Monitor is in the top card, but the second slot down.. (this shouldn't make a difference though should it?)

Both bridges on securely aswell.

I'm also thinking its a board problem, this IP35 pro has 16x and 4x slot, but I thought I might lose a few FPS.. not get crud performance.

Spending more money on a new motherboard is not something I wanted to be doing though

of course not mate. 100% fact though is that @ 1920x1200, ULTRA on all settings and with 8xAA you will get 40fps average. even with the hotfix drivers. I suspect you are running vista or XP so it's forced into DX9 mode?

is your board pci express 1.0 /.1 or 2.0 spec?

you need to find someone whos using crossfire in a 16x4 configuration and compare results tbh

no im using windows 7 64 7100 at the moment (till weekend)

im using the hotfix drivers, i'll give a try at 8x when i get home

what sort of results does dx9 / 10 give, maybe its running in that mode instead of 11 for some reason, although dxdaig shows as dx11 when i checked last night

Its in the 16x Slot card

PCi Express 1.0 as far as I know, I need to wait for Paradigm to get Dirt2 benched on his rig

paradigm got rid of his 3870s then? i remember he was one of the 1st here to crossfire them and also the one to probably keep them the longest

Finally gave in and got 2 asus voltage tweak cards today

Never run a dual card set up before but so far im very impressed, given me a nice boost over the 4870x2 without the power/heat.

No mate ocuk had nothing to do with my cards....only because they didt have stock of the asus cards v1 at the time.

Had little blue pixlels all over the screen when 2d mode sometimes would crash (surfing,youtube) like you would get from atifacts. Cooling was not a problem cards were stock. Emailed AMD direct they said is was not a driver problem like people keep hoping it is and i should RMA the cards. Got my money back just now..3 different asus products in 1 month all faulty .....i can feel the hate comeing on

That's what I get with my XFX card. Got another 5770 coming soon if that works fine it will be time for an RMA.

Perhaps create a profile in CCC that constantly enforces load clocks - this solved the freezing issues for me. Hopefully Cat. 9.12 will solve all of these problems.

i herd they can do 1400 on memory anyone had clocked so high ?

Mine do 1445 on the memory no problems.

Some will only go up to around 1350.

After heavy benching, my ramsinks on the modules were only slightly warm.

Just out of curiosity has anyone gone from a 4870X2 to xfire 5770's? Details and opinions would be appreciated. I expect they are more of a sideways move than a real upgrade but regardless I wouldn't mind hearing about their views. Ta.

I took the leap and dont regret it one bit.

Cooler, quiter & a boost in the games i've tried. (Cod4 went from 150 - 180 fps to 180-210fps maxed out)

Thanks for the reply. The noise never used to bother me but these days I find it increasingly irritating. As you know at idle all is fine but when you ramp up the fan it turns in to a mini leaf blower.

Plus I would like to play the next Stalker game in dx11, Win 7 arrives tomorrow so I am gradually preparing myself.

Zalman VF950

I have a question or two... maybe three.

Does this cooler fit "as designed" onto the 5770? i.e., no modding or proprietary fitting solution required? (I'm asking as none of the 5xxx series is listed as supported on Zalman's website.)

How does it compare, sound-wise, to the stock "egg" cooler? I'm particularly interested in idle noise.

Reckon it would equal or beat the Vapor-X? I could upgrade my original 5770 to the Vapor-X version for about the same as it would cost me to buy this cooler.
