The indy was open minded as to what to do

He can source a brand new part and just fit that if i want. They havent even got it stripped down so i can change my mind.

Just when i thought life was simple.....

I'd be wary of a rebuilt clutch over an OEM or 3rd party 'bolt on' item. The question is, do you need an uprated clutch or will the OEM kill the fun factor? I think a 'save it for the weekend' approach and OEM clutch supplied and fitted away from the main dealer will be the best way forward. Would be much better than trying an uncertain quantity and face the same problem again.

Autovaux in wakefield can supply a Genuine Vauxhall Clutch and Cylinder for £217 inc vat.

So i may just get a genuine vauxhall clutch and learn my lesson and drive it more sympathetically.

If the car is resulting you in living outside your means then I understand what your Mrs is saying. Maybe having a performance car isn't the right thing to do when you have other family committments?

This is the thing. We dont know his circumstances (And have no right to) but if its something like this thats influencing her thinking, she has a point.

And her dad just runs £500 bangers. Keeps it till it pops, then buys another. She cant fathom a need for anything more expensive other than me being spoilt and wanting nice things that (when they throw up £800 bills) we struggle to pay. We've got the cash, but it will leave us short at christmas. I hoped it would last as the clutch only started slippping about 3 weeks ago. Never expected it to give up this quick.

I think her issue is fairly obvious from that.

Yeah right.

Best to get an uprated clutch which will last, what... 40% longer? :)

To be completely honest

i havent got a clue what im buying. If i buy a genuine one - i know what im getting.

If i get CG motorsport to rebuild mine with stronger plates or whatever, who'se to say im actually getting something better.

If the pugsport link was to believed, i might be letting myself out of the frying pan and into the fire.

argh decisions !

Have you called Courtenay to see what they reccomend? They must have had similar cases through the doors after their maps have been added. I can't see an uprated clutch being much more than £217 bought outright, then there's just the fitting.

The next question is, can you not park it up till January and get Xmas out the way first?

I guess the chaps on VXR forums aren't able to help? Someone must have uprated the clutch before.

had a play with golf mkv r32
around waltham abbey have been seeing a mkv r32 and it sounds awesome always been hoping to have a play with it and i got my chance earlier pulled up at lights next to him revved it then when lights went green we both floored it he left me for dead he was gone i was so embarrsed how much he beat me by thought i would have left him for dead but got a big shock

I like this thread.

Yes of course you got murdered by a R32 in your poxy Corsa

Is the issue that you remapped the car to get extra power without uprating the clutch to handle the extra power? Remove the map, replace the clutch with a stock Vaux unit and problem solved?
