Felt sorry for a tramp.

Never given to a beggar, personally their is motions for them to get off the street me giving them money is not going to do them any good, how the hell does a homeless person manage their money? I mean what do they spend the money on, a few meals and some water and the odd toiletry thats their expense, end of.

I find it hard to see how in this nation where you can live a pretty naf, but sheltered life and never work a day, how anyone can be homeless. It can't be the red tape of not having the right IDs etc to collect doll money.

The only real explanation I have ever found is they they are not capable of living in a house unsupervised, that they are constantly being evicted from council houses for whatever reason.

Hi guys.

Went to my local takeaway today to get some food and as I walked past a few buildings, I noticed an old man with his arm in a sling, sitting in a doorway whilst it was pouring down with rain.

He said 'hi' as I walked past, I greeted him back and got on with my journey.

This man was clearly a tramp, poor clothing and an unshaved long beard.

What bothered me the most was that he was an old guy and it's just a shame he doesn't have a place to live.

When I got back home, it made me think the least I could have done was throw him a £1 or something... Poor guy.

When I see a tramp it's always in the back of my mind that if I give them anything, it's probabaly going to be spent on Booze or Drugs, but surely there are some poor folk out there who aren't into any of these habbits and are just simply homeless. The guy I walked past could have been one of these people and it made me feel sad.

What do you guys do if you see a tramp in the street? Would you offer them some change or just carry on with your journey?

When i was drunk last year i gave the tramp that sleeps outside the local church a fiver because i felt sorry for him but thinking about it now the ******* didn't even say thank you so he will have to scrounge harder for his supers from now on. :(

It's not something i like to see and i do always feel sorry for them and even old people walking by themselves just because they will probably be dead soon lol. (not at them being dead soon)

Bring out the ball-pein, if I don't have it with me though I go back later with the .22!

Remember 'Mad Norman', that tramp that was well known in the area of London Rd., (between West End & Stoke) and yet somehow just disappeared with no trace? I did that! :)

the sad thing is, we have all given money to charities, well i have the odd pound here and there, and it sickens me that the money goes to places like africa, yet the money they get doesnt go to proper use.

I would rather the money i give to charity go towards hostiles or places for the homeless in this country, why the foreigners get everything from us is beyond me.

i bet if this country became like africa, no one would send us charity or medical aid.

I agree, I wont give to any charities which send the money abroad, this includes children in need. I'd rather give it to the rspca first.

This thread is going to drag out the usual OcUK ***** comments from the usual OcUK asshats.

"They should have managed their finances better like me! *SNORT* HarHar!"

So give money to Shelter, you berk.

That's not true. The only time free tap water is a requirement is if it is imposed on the restaurant/bar/pub/club in their licence.
This is true. An all-you-can-eat Chinese in Durham used to have photocopies of a letter from the council on the wall confirming this, as they refused to provide tap water. This is the same place that charged less for children, but rather hilariously defined children as 'being under 4ft'.

i see homeless people in town all the time, i dont know how far they go for food etc but some of them wait outside greggs and instead of begging for food they watch if people throw away uneaten stuff in the garbage then dig it out, which is fair game food isnt going to waste i guess, better in these homeless guys stomachs than in the trash but it is sad to think the lengths these guys need to go to get food

but as OP said, you dont want to be giving stuff to the people who had a chance in life but blew it with drugs/alcohol addiction rather than those who have been just unlucky in life or made bad investments that caused them to lose everything

Love how people decide not to give money to homelss as they're just going to spend it on booze or drugs, when that's what you're probably going to spend it on.

As if it's expected they save it up to furnish their box with a throw rug and a CD rack :p
