the amount of times iv replayed ff7 is ridiculous

That has just spurred me to go nd find my old memory card. I had the most insane save on there. All charcters fully levelled up, every last bit of materia etc. Nice tro just load it up and admire once every year or so :)

Seriously though, how can anyone play FPS games with a gamepad?

Also, after playing games with a high end PC, I personally could never go back to owning a console, my little brother has PS3, and several of my mates own 360's, and everytime I have played a game on the console that I also have for PC, the graphics look extremely shoddy in comparison, and they dont run as smooth as they do on the PC neither.

I guess if consoles were all you had ever gamed on this wouldn't be an issue, but I personally have spoiled myself with PC gaming, that consoles just dont do it for me at all...

Just my 2p. :)

PS3 is just overhyped and under delivered, btw the graphics card in it is ancient (pre2006)
the latest HD 5000 series will give you 7680x4800 resolution in games, thats 600% higher resolution :P

the 9500 is slower than the card in the PS3, so why buy a €20 against a £400 PS3, get a Radeon HD 5850 and a proper CPU and now you can jack up the resolution and detail in games and look and feel the diffrent

Imagen what the size of the monitor if it had a resolution like that

Nvidia = Best drivers unless you own an HDTV, unethical (see the blocking of AA in batman and forcing ati users to have no physix even with seperate nvidia card), all cards have sometimes-annoying capacitator whine.

ati - slow driver release, superior performance at the current time, good customer service.

Try playing RTS games like Supreme commander, red alert 3 total war ect on PS3.

Mouse/Keyboard > Joystick in most cases.

Best drivers? Hardly. People have issues with HDTVs with ATi too, it's down to luck really.

In fact, current nVidia drivers are pretty much broken for A LOT of people around here, there's quite a few issues they need to sort, but are slacking.

ATi cards are also just as subject to capacitor whine. In fact, PSUs also have an impact on how much a card whines.

I've had nVidia cards that don't whine, in fact, I don't think I've ever had a card that DID have it and I'm very sensitive to electrical noises. I can "sense" the static coming from a CRT screen, I can tell if one is on even if I'm in another room and the TV is muted.

ATi release drivers slow?

They do one a month officially and they have betas in between as well as hot fixes, that's hardly slow at all, nVidia is slow they've been known to not make a new official driver for 6 months+ with flaky betas in between.

ATi have better customer service? Again you can't generalise that considering BFG is supposed to have one of the best customer service records and they only make nVidia cards.

Customer service is down to the BRAND of the ATi card, not ATi themselves, same with nVidia.

Are you sure you've not just extrapolated that resolution out of an eyefinity setup you've seen/heard of?

I'm sorry but please don't bring up Crysis. It was a mediocre game at best and a technical disaster. I still can't max it out on my rig, which is embarrassing... for the developers. Far Cry 2 had much better graphics, imo - and that game ran incredibly well on PC and on consoles.

Anyway, DiRT2 is the definitive game to show off graphics and what the PC can do. It really is quite a sight in all its DX11 glory. Is it worth the money buying a rig capable of running it well? Not really, but gaming is a passion for me. I could have grabbed a PS3, X360 and Wii for the price I paid for my graphics card but I didn't want to. Consoles have their place and I'm perfectly happy to see them do well - I'm not elitist about it - but I strongly disagree that they provide an equal or better gaming experience. Better value? Probably. More social? Sure. Require minimal setup and maintenance? Absolutely. But PCs are dramatically more versatile and have considerably better graphical fidelity.

How much you enjoyed crysis is utterly irrelevant and has no baring at all on how good its graphics are.

Crysis being a good game is subjective, the quality of its graphics however isn't.

It's the most advanced and realistic looking game engine currently used for games you can buy now, that's fact, whether you PREFER (subjective) the way another game looks how ever doesn't actually mean crysis doesn't have the most realistic graphics going.

So you have basically said that both are rubbish ?

Do a search, nearly everyone gets capacitator whine. my 260 does it, my 4870 didnt, same corsair PSU...so how is it down to my PSU ?

Nvidia +HDTV = 1" thick black bar on left of screen. Ati did have that problem...2 years ago and promtly fixed it. Nvidia emailed me and told me and I quote "get another monitor then".
