Sure it looks dated, but what would you expect?

I think I prefer the words "retro" or "classic" instead of dated.

And the difference is kids..... the BMW dash was ahead of its time, the Ford dash was typical 80's Ford I've forgotten how to draw curves.


Its other main problem is the Escort Cosworth, i wonder if thats why one of those costs 15 - 20k now and these cost 50p.

Imo a lot of box 80's hatch's would look odd with curved dashes. Contrast with the exterior too much.

It is 80's design after all. If your driving it, you either like it or put up with it.

I like the OP car, but I would preffer escort purely on looks.

I think that looks great. Not mega keen on the wheels and the interior isn't great but have you seen the interior of Lancia Integrale? Its quite simply Stalinist in appearance but they command double the price of the above car.

I actually think its best angle is the side. I like that saloon look. I don't like the front lights too much though. I considered one when I bought my Impreza but the age of them put me off as it was to be a daily driver.

It would be wrong to use that car as a daily IMO. All my opinion of course.
 
never liked the sapphire cosworth

driving position was poor, the transmission tunnel presses into your leg and is so annoying

the gearchange is like stirring a bucket of **** with a marshmallow

handling nothing special either
 
Always preferred the three door or the Escort when it comes to Cossie's, for me the Sapphire has always been less desirable. Much more discreet however :)
 
I think the guys calling it dated are missing the point, i'm sure if the OP wanted a modern looking dashboard from a car they could buy a modern car.

The car is 20 years old and people buy these cars because it looks 20 years old, it is 20 years old and the cars are getting rarer and they probably wanted one as a child.
 
I'd happily have that were it not the case that the same sort of cash would pick me up an e34 M5, ok one that will need work probably, but no more than an aged Sierra!

The Ford was not hand built either....

So, no I would not.
 
its not a propper cosworth anyway, just did n insurance quote and the car comes back a
1992K Ford Sierra Sapphire Ghia, 1998CC Petrol, 4DR, Manual

Exactly, you can buy a Hand Built E34 M5 in good order for 5k, if i wanted an old performance saloon thats what i'd sink my money into.
