dirt 2 benchmarks dx9 vs dx 11

well crossfire is obviously not working :) boot into safe mode, completely uninstall all ati drivers, reinstall latest catalyst + hotfix, make sure crossfire is enabled in every place that it has a chance of being disabled in.

hopefully my crossfire setup will run when I get my second card :|

il try your advice now mate, even though i have reinstalled the drivers a few times, but not in safe mode, fingers crossed!

I can't actually remember what stage you're meant to go into safe mode for cleaning up drivers :| someone correct me if my original post was wrong, I've done more formats than drivers upgrades in the last year :)

I've never had to goto safe mode for driver removal.

1 - Remove drivers from control panel
2 - reboot
3 - install new drivers
4 - it works :)

removed driver in safe mode and reinstalled it, still the same problem, im beginning to think it is my mobo, shame i didnt have another to try

im not sure what fps i should be getting in waw2, but its certainly fine in 3dmark vantage

Ok, you need to install MSi Afterburner and set it so it displays a graph or your GPU Clocks, GPU Usage and FPS.

Then once you've got that monitoring things for you. Disable your crossfire and play a game, exit game.. take a look at the screenshot and see whether your fps is consistant.

Then test the same thing in your other card (turn off monitor, move vga cable over then turn monitor on again)

Then test again with crossfire enabled.

Click me, This is an issue I still have with my 5770 crossfire, So I've ended up buying another motherboard

thats playing waw2 single card

Doesn't afterburner graph gpu load ?

Looking at clock speeds is a pointless exercise.

I basically opened up a couple of gpuzs and task manager - not elaborate but did tell me what I needed to know.

heres mine on ultra settings 8x msaa and v sync on @ 1680x1050

Benchmark Mode Results

benchmark

5770 in crossfire

average min_fps="44.274429"
av_fps="52.903152"

Don't like yours much hyperst ...

My 4830s do 51avg/36min @1680x1050

Tom's results look very sweet - Could be that i5 pushing it up but not that high I would thought ?

Only running in DX9 but on my (memory overclocked) 8800GS I still get a very playable FPS. Please do bear in mind this is a value card with only 384MB RAM. Benchmark was done at 2x AA with all possible settings maxed out (for DX9) in 1600x900. Not bad at all for what the card is. Only paid £67 for it a year ago. Will look into getting a 5 series card though, either a 5770 Xfire or a 5850. As engines go, Codemasters EGO is a good one; I really enjoyed DiRT 2 but I prefer the original DiRT in terms of the feel of the game. Still, will have to pick DiRT 2 up sometime.

min_fps="35.223259" av_fps="40.266418"
