For the record aswell Honda state weight for the are including 4 passengers , boot of suitecases etc and full tank of fuel . But you all knew that

Honda give kerb weight (car, fluids, full tank of fuel but no occupants or luggage) for the Accord as a tick under 3000lbs IIRC? Think that puts it between 1350 and 1400kg. Will have to look look it up to confirm, if I can be bothered.

At least I've a genuine interest in cars of this type (Nobody can deny that saloons with bodykits and spoilers are not my favourite area of motoring) and have driven many similar cars. Whereas yourself? I don't wish to get into a tit for tat contest but being sniped at by somebody with a red Clio 1.2 is getting irritating. I can't remember why I never tried an Accord Type-R when I tried everything else in its class when I was picking cars a few years ago.

Oh yeah sorry didnt see the rules that say i cant post and have no valid comments because of my car which i never mentioned in this thread. Would you like to point me to the faq where it says this please? :)

Whats in the suitcases? Did it come out of the back of a cow?

One of the most amusing threads for a while. :D

Fox , please find me a standard atr aswell as there not many about

Ok, sure.

Citation needed?

I was aware DIN standards for vehicle weight required a driver and one passenger but... 4 passengers!? Why would they record the weight of a performance car with 4 passengers and a driver? There is no requirement to do this to conform to DIN standards?

You seem to be here mostly to try and belittle my opinion. If you'd stop that I'd more than happily stop returning the favour :) As it stands you appear to be a pot calling a stainless steel kettle black.

No, and not that it was relevant in this thread as we never mentioned your car specifically.

However now you do mention it i'd gladly meet up with you and turn a few laps on any track of your choice. Name the date and track and I'll be there, I'll even film it and promise to upload if your quicker than me.

I'm interested to know how you've shed 200 kilos from the car, do you have a calibrated weighbridge printout or somesuch to proove this? Also interested to see any Dynos of your 15 BHP power increase.. what modifications did you do to achieve this?

Not a track fan but can point you into someones direction of an atr owner that is and will even pass you it on a silver platter . Hes a track driver and probably a better driver than you and this is all relivant as its unfair on you .

My list of mods is very extenisve to say the least and there around on the forum which now include a couple of other bits

my car is stripped aswell .

MUST HAVE ICONIC STREET RACER
*Cringe* :(.

Accord Type Rs really seem to be one of those "cult" cars that owners and followers love despite not being able to see the forest for the trees. I was also a bit miffed by Fox's comparison to the ST200 but at the end of the day, he was right. Honda weren't aiming for the E36 M3 when designing the ATR, in fact I'd be certain that the BMW didn't even cross their minds as on paper, they aren't even remotely comparable apart from residual values, which are good for the Honda thanks to die hard fans and the fact that they only sold about 12 of them.

Well my dads bigger than your dad! :p

1150kg.

Yeah right. Maybe with no engine in.

Well according to the DVLA that's the weight of a 5 door corsa mk2. Interestingly the 3 door variant is 100kg lighter.

I drove an M3 recently E46 - The best one. And yeah, its an animal, but not quite in the way I was expecting. It didn't feel as quick as i'd hoped, and it was hard to get the power down in first and second even in the dry without the TC telling me to behave. Similar to the VTEC addiction, you know its there and u have to use it... ur in an M3, drive it like you stole it. Gotta love em still tho. ATR is good, probably the best top end model of its class at the time, shame honda dropped it, the 2.4 type s just isn't the same.

Is a Honda owner 'siding' with the BMW guys like dividing by Zero

Probably more along the lines of what Egon Spengler said about crossing the streams....

This thread is getting veeeery silly!

I have an M3 E46 and the accord is so easily overlooked. It is comparible to the m3 rather than the Mondeo and the Vectra. I have driven Skywalker's Accord and was very impressed by it.

Christ alive! this thread needs closing and locking NOW! I can't believe the amount of people trying to support the notion a Accord Type R is comparable to a M3....it's not! It's comparable to an ST220, which might I add would eat alive based on the book bhp and torque figures I'm looking at.

It is a D segment sports saloon and was priced at the mass market. What is so god damn hard to understand about that?! Jeeez even a 325i would only just be behind me in a straight line, yet people are talking up ATR's as comparable to M3's! Get a grip!

K lets see a list of people here who are suggesting an ATR and M3 are in the same league? ;) can't count many!
