If you can donate some money it would be nice

No.

it was their choice to take that career path.. If i decided to work in a paper factory and then whined about paper cuts and made websites and stuff - i'd be a ********.

Yes this is slightly more dramatic and sad but seriously - if you join the army there's a chance you could die, or a have a leg blown off. it's really quite simple. if you and your family couldn't deal with that. Don't join.

On the radio yesterday I overheard someone say "Old men start wars and young men die in them" when speaking about the Iraq war etc.

Those geezers! *shakes fist*

If it is their free choice they should know they can get hurt when they are in a war before signing up, you should not whine afterwards.

You could argue that it is also the responsibility of the government that sent them to said war to ensure that they are looked after properly if they are injured and so the charity should not be necessary.

Regardless as you are not forced to donate to said charity why care?

I don't get it, if you serve even 1 paid day in the armed forces you're entitled to use this service? Does one day suddenly entitle you to more help than your average never-enlisted person? I think not, and on that basis, I'm out.

Yes they do know that they will get injured, but that also can reasonably expect the Government of the country they are protecting (don't pick up on the fact that the current war isn't protecting anyone!) to look after them if they get injured in the line of duty. They can also expect them to provide them with good equipment and take care of them.

This is not being done, and the Government very poorly treat the soldiers upon their return / end of service.

Would you stop compensation for injuries sustained in any line of work? Surely builders are aware of the risks of their jobs, for example?

Whether they are fighting in a war you believe in or not they are putting themselves on the frontline and one day they might be in a war where thay are actually defending us,a soldier can not pick and choose his battles he will fight regardless.

They deserve all the help they can get.
