I'm yearning for a stealth shooter like syphon filter and metal gear solid. I'm aware of the new splinter cell game coming out in february, but is there anything worth getting which is out now that still has nice looking graphics? I never played any of the splinter cell games actually, should I still get one of those?

it is very worth getting, i really liked chaos theory of the SC series. Double agent was good too. Graphics wise, the older ones show their age but they are still pretty good.

Well there are PC ports of the first Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. 2nd game which to be honest still looks quite good in some areas.

Apart from the Splinter Cell games, there isn't really a lot of stealth third person shooter action games for the PC. I'd recommend the last two in the series currently, Chaos Theory and Double Agent.

the STALKER games can be played stealthy...in fact - that is he best way to play them rather than running in all guns blazing.

Thanks. Is there much difference in graphics between those two?

I would highly recommend the Splinter Cell series of games. I really enjoyed the first one, and Pandora Tomorrow. Chaos Theory and Double Agent were alright, but I enjoyed the other two a lot more. Since they announced the revamp of the new SC, I am interested in that one now. I wasn't so much before as I didn't like the changes they had made to the original playstyle.

Hitman is amazing in terms of stealthy. Sometimes you have no choice but to go guns a blazing. Kill someone in a toilet and some fool walks in and starts shouting out stuff, but some of the missions you have to be stealthy. Such a good game can take a while to do things due to being so stealthy. Great games.

Can't believe I totally forgot about the Hitman games.

The first game, whilst extremely dated now, is a classic for me simply because of some hilarious broken gameplay and giltches it had.

Yeah, I never really got into the thief games for some reason. What I liked about syphon filter (played it on the PSX) and MGS was the simplicity of sneaking around, watching the little radar map where dots represented the enemy nearby, and if you were spotted the alarm went off and you're back to your last checkpoint. I hope splinter cell is like that. :)

Thief III Thief III Thief III

Not really a shoot 'em but a great stealthy Great game..

I've played #2 most out of the hitman games, and it *is* possible to play it entirely, stealthily but it's a lot harder than to just gun everyone down. I did start out trying to get the "Silent Assassin" award in each level (you get bonus weapons as prizes) but some were just too hard :(.

I remembered playing butchers bay and saw athena on steam, bought it and was utterly dissapointed. The game felt laggy and dated :(

You can find Spliter Cell:Chaos Theory for next to nothing and its a very good game, much more stealth then Double Agent but even thats worth ago even if it is a bad port.

Alrighty then, thanks chaps. Chaos Theory then, I'll go buy that and then maybe check out some of these others too like riddick and velvet assassin.
