Meeting someone Famous and not quite realising

Not sure why this just come to me, probably because I just saw Love Actually in another post, anyway...

I was flying back from LA a few years ago, it was a night flight most people were sleeping and I was sat next to Bill Nighy.. at the time I didn't really know who he was.. I'd just seen an Episode 'Auf Wiedersehen, Pet' and thought I recognised him but he didn't play a main part and I thought I won't do the "do I recognise you from....". We had a chat (not mentioning work as such) and paced the cabin a bit in frustration that everyone else was sleeping and we couldn't.. Anyway I got off the flight and the first thing I saw was a massive poster with his face on it for Love Actually, think it was the same year he had the christmas hit.

I was just gutted I didn't ask him some questions about movies.. bet he was happy not to be bothered with the normal stuff though..

Anything similar happen to anyone else ?
 
Chatted to Amy Whinehouse at the bar in Mac Bar, Camden about 5 years ago, had no idea who she was though until people started going "omg, that's Amy Whinehouse", I still didn't know who it was lol but went all shy after that :(

Jase, did you not recognise the voice?

George Michael once held the door open for me at my last workplace (hmn that doesnt sound great does it). I didnt realise until i went into the kitchen and people were talking about him being in the building.
 
I was in a pub a few years back not far from a music festival. Having a few beers with a group of friends when KT Tunstall and her band came in and took over another corner of the pub, so my friends and I were all wondering if it was really her and one of us plucked up the courage to go and say hi. Thing was he didnt know what KT Tunstall looked like and walked straight up to this fat goth girl with pink hair sitting next to KT and gives it "Hi KT really nice to meet you" cue the laughter from just about everyone in the pub :)
 
Natalie Portman asked me about whether i sold gold iPods (High street shop) and i told her to try the internet. Sigh.

Also Taio Cruz popped in asking about video cameras and i had no idea who he was...cue a few months later when he was number 1 with that song 'Take Me Back'. :o

I met Radiohead once, when they were recording In Rainbows. We were supplying them with organic meat and vegetables for the month they were here, just down the road from me. I knew that they'd be there, and met who I thought was them, when I got back, I went on Google and checked. :p

It was. :D
 
This isn't me, one of the kids my family is looking after for the social services. Took him with me to the Dragonforce gig (ok not as famous as some but will still do) as apparently they're his favourite band etc etc.

Watching the first band, I notice the guy standing right in front of us with about 1 metre of empty space between us, getting a 'is that who I think it is?' moment. 'Twas Sam Totman and Vadim (the keyboardist from Dragonforce), Sam turns round and walks straight past us, literally a few inches from the guy I took with me, who still doesn't notice...goes and chats to some security bloke and comes back a minute or two later.

'Twas only when I point out who he's standing next to, and why I was looking that he realised. Massive fan eh? Hahaha
 
Keira Knightley - She came in to the garage i worked in and bought tampons, condoms and deodourant. Didnt notice at first as she was all wrapped up for winter, but when she spoke i picked up her accent. Awesome levels of girl next door hotness! :D

If thats true then thats quite amusing :D

I told nicholas cage to stop using his mobile on the forecourt before realising who he was :p
 
I was out in Newcastle with a mate a couple of years back. He disappeared to the bar, and didn't return. I found him half an hour later talking, completely obliviously, to a nice Irish chap with big hands.

Turned out to be Shay Given.
