rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

I'll Google, but can you post a link to what he said?

EDIT: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/dec/10/simon-cowell-rage-against-machine

I'm going to purchase it ten times. :o
from the FB group
** GUYS PLEASE READ THIS ABOUT 'MULTIPLE' PURCHASES **
Some of you are very keen on buying this about 10 times or so....PLEASE don't do this as the official chart company will see it as suspicious for any more than THREE purchases of a particular download

can you download it from amazon or does it have to itunes?

I want it anyway.
You also need to download it from any company that contributes to the charts, including: 7 Digital, iTunes, Play.com
I thought HMV and others did too but have now read contradicting things

I think that saddest thing of all is that even if 1,000,000 people bought the track, for 70p each.... the amount of cash RATM get, would likely be something like £100,000 between the lot of them.

Yes but its the publishers, producers, etc etc, who for some inexplicable reason are the ones who get the write the contracts and exploit thousands of musicians. huge amounts of musicians/bands with great potential end up signing contracts which end up putting them in massive debt to the record companies, never to be heard from again.

I've had professional advice from the MU, which essentially said, whatever you do, if your career is just starting, don't sign a contract. Or at very least get legal advice, and a new contract drafted. Such is the industry today.

EDIT: Of course, 100k is lovely. The point is though, let's say simon c gets the xmas #1 with 600,000 record sales. He probably gets nearer to 600k, when the artist is often payed not enough to pay off the record contract advance.

It's the labels that can put a record out there, so they can charge what they like as part of the contract.

The Internet is changing that, but if the labels do get brought down it will basically destroy the music industry as we know it.

Almost 600,000 members in the group. Hoooooollyyyyy poop.

It sounds like Radio1 are behind the push aswell.. they played the song earlier with Cowell talking in the background... great stuff.

If Simon Cowel donated his trousers to a charity shop they would be completely useless because no one else has a waist where their chest should be.
