My Powercolor arrived in the post today and it was a fiver cheaper so not too fussed about that or the xfx's in tomoz. Can imagine these will disappear pretty quickly still.

Starting to wish id waited for one of these than put up with the trouble ive had with defective gtx 295's. :(

What in particular though fans, graphis memory DOA? Ive used 3 in builds for me / others, no probs so just interested to what sort of issues you have had, any signs of probs?

Price is still too high, seen XFX 5850 XXX edition for less and they were in stock.

While I've seen them for the original RRP the simple fact is all the places I've checked recently show stock of neither 5850 or 5870 and since ATi are so slow to take advantage of the demand then prices will remain high.

Looks to me like avaliability of all 5*** series cards is improving, a number of etailers now have stock if ou are willing to pay about 20% more than the launch price....

Sorry, could you explain this comment a bit further? Because it looks like you are accusing AMD/ATi of deliberately not supplying cards to the market for some nefarious reason of their own. I can assure you that they would have supplied every card that the market wanted if they could and AMD executives wake every morning with a small curse for TSMC.

Just so you aren't under any false dellusions, I know full well about TSMC problems and no I'm not implying that it is ATi's intentions to restrict the flow of cards but it is the result.

Thats fine, but your original comment definitely implies you were. As for me, all my delusions are real :D

Am i missing something here? This thread prices it at £249.99 whereas the web price at ocuk is £229.99 .....

Is dirt2 still shipping with the 5*** series cards?

If so i might just have to buy one now!
