There are a lot of sad, pathetic people on this forum - i'm not surpised by that fact, just surprised by how many are so blatantly unashamed about it!

Edit: also surprised by the fact that their profiles say they're over 12years of age - tbh I don't believe it, it's like listening into a playground.

I put in my post that I was joking, so that all these people taking the thread seriously couldn't get confused. It's got to the point where for some people to take a joke, you have to actually tell them it is one.

Read my previous post - bottom of page 1 if you're on 80PPP. It isn't funny if you've been putting up with it (in a less jocular manner) for nearly 15 years. In a jokey context with friends I know are just laughing it's fine, but there are people in the world who really think that people with ginger hair are some form of lower life-form and, now that I'm old enough to realise I don't have to stand for it, I don't.

Well of course if people are being serious and less than jovial about it then it isnt funny.. it's abuse. However, when people are just joking and making light of a silly stereotype then there's no harm in that. Have you had a bad experience?

Once or twice it doesnt bother me. If its the same stupid ginger joke done again and again i'd just lamp him one. Good ginger jokes are funny but not stupid crass ones.....

OK, I think you might have me confused with someone else. I haven't posted in GD for a good while, and I've never egged either of you on as I don't now and never have found either of you funny in the slightest. Sorry to burst the bubble you've blown yourself there.

As I've said before on many occasions, jokes are all very well and good. If you're a standup comedian, it's fairly safe to say that you're making a joke about prejudices and stereotypes, and it's easy to get away with it - because there's no underlying message you're trying to preach (unless you're Jim Davidson). But some everyday guy just sitting at his keyboard making ignorant and (most importantly) not funny remarks about someone who might be different to them isn't funny unless you're widely perceived as someone who likes to have a harmless joke. See the difference there? One is either some unfunny little oik trying to make a joke (fine) and one is some hatemongering individual (not fine). With most people, I tend to try and assume that they're the former, because it makes life easier, but encouraging this kind of behaviour out of context isn't productive - hence my disapproving of the card.

Lastly, you have no basis to call me a hypocrite. What I expect you're doing is making up some circumstance in which calling me a hypocrite is appropriate and taking that as a given. You don't know anything about me (other than that I have ginger hair) so if you're going to start calling things, maybe you should check that you're actually making sense (though from what I've seen of you in this thread, it doesn't seem that you're frequently bothered about making all that much sense).

See my above post. I've had a fair few years of bad experience. The people making actual jokes (not even funny, just trying to be without being hurtful is fine) are in a tiny, tiny minority.
