I am all for helping disadvantaged people getting into education and work, but this is just like "you are black, you can't make it on your own". Racist and patronising.

I would apply for it and if you are rejected for being white take it to court, or atleast the DailyMail. :)
 
I wonder if Will Smith knows they are using his photo.

Just imagine if it was 'whites' only. Oh the uproar. I think I might complain to the papers and get my 15 minutes of fame, despite being vastly under educated for such a role, but still doesn't matter though.

Our Higher Education & Employment (HE&E) work addresses the challenge of today that even when successful in higher education, BME graduates are still twice as likely to be unemployed as white graduates and that even when employed ethnic minorities are relatively under employed and under-utilised. Our HE&E programmes play a critical role in supporting BME undergraduates and graduates, particularly in their transition from higher education into immensely competitive professions and fields of graduate employment.

I'm a second year chemist, this flyer was e-mailed to me by my department. I'm not on the course with the year in industry, but if I were I know how livid I'd be.
 
Not sure why I am bothering as this is very old ground trodden on many a time but here goes anyway.

The only difference between positive discrimination and racism is one is historically used to address an imbalance caused by the other. I personally don't agree with it but I can see the reasoning behind it. Effectively you are trying to address pretty much institutional bias by artificially improving representation. If it is going to be used it should be a last resort after everything else has been tried and it should be for a short term to address the balance in question and not long term. Even then there are doubts as to it's effectiveness due to the resentment it may cause and the stigma of being assumed to have only got your position because you are black.

I would assume that GLK also has a fully open graduate program with no restrictions.
 
You want to work for the Council around here, they have certain "quotas" to fill. They won't talk about it in public, but they're there and have to be filled.
