You know when policies auto renew... well...

You would think that given he has only had the car two weeks and his policy on it two weeks he would have been asked about while on the phone / had next years car insurance in his mind?

And he would have driven it to work the next day after renewing his insurance I suppose?

If that is not enough , i had a set of S3 alloy wheels in the car when they stole it that where sold , being collected in the morning..from work so i had put them in ready.

So on the plus side, the thieves prevented an uninsured driver from being on the road...

he obviously thought the policy auto renews.. !?? or am i missing something ? either way unlucky! :o

Thats sickening.

My friend was in a similar position last year, thought his poilcy auto renewed. Was driving round and Police stopped him. Policy ended the week before. Got 6 points and fine, its his own fault really should have checked he was insured.

The guy should have checked he was insured (esp on a £37k car!) Not that this will make him feel better :( I do feel for him, its horrible :(

Thats the impression I got too.

I let my insurance auto renew as I couldn't match the renewal price online. I also pay annually and had a horrible feeling one day when I realised my renewal date had passed, so I rang them up and luckily it had auto renewed.

Gutted for that guy thouh, I honestly don't know what I'd do. Has he actually just lost £37000 then? :(

Wow, that sucks.

An easy thing to forget to sort if you're really busy come renewal time, but something you most certainly DON'T want to forget.

Poor bloke. :(

I was under the impression most insurance policy's would auto renew, its in the comanys interest to do this.

I've never had a policy that doesn't.

Neither have I and the endless phone calls from company's due to you getting quest last year they all start ringing around.

Last time we had a car stolen the police found it dumped a few days later. We can only hope that guy has the same luck with the police :(

thats really bad to hear...

on a related note, I pay my insurance anually and it still auto renews, at least his family is safe but It must be terribly upsetting and a serious financial blow...

I am sure he did believe his policy Auto Renewed, but somewhere he has a letter that says what his renewal premium is and that it won't auto renew.

I am sure auto renew helps a few people, some of them deliberately when they are happy with the renewal quote, but it's not something to rely on to be honest.

It's ****ty luck for sure, but what would he be posting had he had an accident in a few days time and found he was uninsured?

Lessor of 2 evils?

My wife's car was stolen during a break-in some years ago (2.2 Astra Coupe) so now all our keys are put in a silly place nobody would look when we go to bed.
