hi all im back yet again, thought i would share my overclocking experience using the h50 cooler, started with stock speeds for a bit and now i going todo a bit of overclocking.

so went straight in with a 3.8ghz as the auto oc was pants and only gave me 3.6ghz not bad but thought it would give me more.

no major changes to vaults ect started on cpu 1.3v then lowered them right down to 1.28 and is stable, upped the ram from 1600mhz to 2000mhz as well and just ran linx for 10 runs and is stable.
here's a pic of my linx run dont think there's anything else i can change or improve here.

mainly everything is on auto at minute apart from the cpu vaults and ram vaults is 1.65v.later i shall do a 4ghz overclock and see where that takes me.doubt i get past 4ghz would love to get my golden 4.2ghz but think that will be a very slim chance,if anyone got settings for 4.2ghz i give them a try.:D

going to try and tighting up the ram timings to 7-9-7-25 and hopefully that will be stable.not sure if i will get to 4.2ghz what would be the the best way to try and reach 4.2ghz.

hmm seems i hit a brick wall or something coz tried todo 4.2ghz and i get a light blue screen not the normal bsod i anit seen that before lol,i upped the cpu vaults to 1.36 and still does it any ideas?

anyone got some settings i can try im not to fussed but as 4ghz is enough but would like to know if it could do it.

are any of your overclocks prime95 stable?? currently having problems with my i7 860 at 4ghz fails prime95 after 2 hours on 1 core/thread

mines about the same, straight up to 79c after about 5 mins of prime, begining to wish i never got this chip.. it runs hot and i cant seem to get it prime stable!

Run it at 3.8-3.9ghz and your problems will likely be solved.

Don't get depressed trying to keep up with the Jones' many reported overclocks probably aren't stable either.

LGA1156 seem to require a lot more voltage than LGA1366 to reach 4ghz.

10 mins of stressing and you're up in the 80's?? Are you comfortable with that? Come summertime you'll have to tone down that OC.

you know how much linx stresses a cpu? probably nothing else would ever stress a cpu that much, I'm more than comfortable ;)

fans are at 25% (~ 700rpms) for the above, if need be I can up them to 50 or 75%, bring summer on ;)

also im at 4.4GHz now :p

well I never noticed that, not sure how to change it to 100 in core temp, but using realtemp at tj 100, it adds 1 degrees to the value over core temp, so instead of 79-80 were looking at 80-81

oh no I better reduce the over-clock now! :p

finaly cracked it mate, i was trying 200x20 which i just could not get stable at all, so backed off to 191x21 and just passed 9 hours of prime! so thats enoguh for me at the moment going to lower vcore now to see if i'm using to much! (1.38)
