rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

* Total raised online: £77,321.58
Offline donations: £0.00
Gift Aid plus supplement: £18,650.26

Gift Aid is a pretty decent thing, isn't it? 25p - £1.00 per donation doesnt seem much, but when you're out in force like that, £18,650 is a lot of money.

Yeah - that's pretty heart warming - well done guys and gals.

I personally don't think it's the most appropriate Christmas no. 1 ever, but is wasn't meant to be. RATM are a very, very good band, Joe was typical mass-produced pop humdrum, and I'm glad the UK made a stand to stick it to the mass-produced drivel that is churned out again and again and again.

I don't think it's people buying what they don't like, but more people buying what they've been forcefed for the past 3 months.

A lot of people who buy the x-factor christmas singles don't usually buy music, that's the way I see it anyway, and as an extension of that, are also not particularly interested in it.

Rubbish, people are not forced to buy anything, they buy what they like.
Out of 19 million viewers ONLY half a million people bought the single so that should be a massive message in itself.

The way I see it the people who downloaded RATM don't usually download music and not the same thing up to 7 times.
Those people who bought Joe actually like it where we know that the majority of those multi buying RATM wouldn't buy another product by them.

Anyway, it's great to hear RATM at number 1 even though it was a farce.

i am soo happy. i do feel sorry for joe in a way as his career is dead before it has even started. none the less this had to be done and a great band of old has been recognised by many new people.

i was part of the jeff buckley campaign last year and am dead chuffed that we as a nation have been able to voice our opinion for once. :D

Top of the Pops on Xmas day is going to look rather lame as they recorded it 2 weeks ago with Joe Mcdingleberry appearing in the no.1 spot.

oooooops :D

Was really happy RATM got to number one.

Wanted something that was by geniune musicians rather than something by a karaoke singer whose popularity was born of a TV show rather than his musical talent.

RATM was picked up by their record label because of their ability, not because they won a competition.

Music 1 - 0 TV Competition

Best media news i've heard all year. Really wish it continues with a continued fight against manufactured rubbish.

Since when is 2nd in the charts when the 1st place was taken up with what is basically an internet hate campaign a career killer?

Rage are ALRIGHT, I wouldn't go as far as VERY VERY GOOD for talent. I have all their albums but I can't listen to them all in one go. The constant "fight the power" message get's a bit tedious, of course that is the whole idea of RATM but meh, change the record! :D

This proves that Internet campaigns do work, well done to all involved :D

Now lets start an Internet campaign to stop those stupid Yanks from killing each other by Illegalising (sic) firearms, its unbelievable that it hasn't been done.

How about we don't?

Quite aside from my own personal opinions on the matter of firearms legislation and control, we have no right to interfere with another country's laws...

Once you hear this version by youtube group Ahmir, you will see that Joe's version just isn't worthy to be in the charts.

Congrats Rage and everybody who contributed!
