I'm not sure how you mean less features... the engine itself is pretty much identical to COD4 with a few extra texture features including the ability to stream in and out higher res textures and a few new lighting/shadow features... gameplaywise its pretty much identical except it has extra perks, etc.

Even the dedicated server code is still in there.
 
Cheating is getting annoying - both hacks and exploits...

Was on the snowy map in one of the buildings that looks over both spawns from either end... me and another guy put down tact. insertion at either end and going at it over and over... neither quite able to get to the others tact. insertion before being killed by the other... annoying thing was he was out and out cheating... the moment he appeared on my screen I was dead and kill cam showed him with no tactical awareness snapping to my head the moment I appeared even if he wasn't looking at me... was only due to me using sitrep and underslung grenade launcher so I could get him before he had line of sight that I was managing to keep it 1:1 KDR against him... without those hacks I'd have rolled him.

Why can't we report cheaters ffs? There was this guy just now, in game name was Cow and I checked his Steam page, he's from the Netherlands if anybody has encountered him. We were on the airport terminal map and he was just running around with an AUG shooting people through walls. I left about 2 minutes into the match, by which point he had amassed over 40 kills and 1 death.

Now I'm not exactly a god at this game, but I've played this, and COD4 on 360 for quite a while and I think I can tell this difference when someone is good, and when someone is cheating and he was clearly cheating.

For example I was prone, way away from where any of the action was taking place, using the perks that make me invisible to heart scanners, UAV's and air support, but somehow he still see's me prone behind a wall from about 100 feet away and proceeds to kill me with a single headshot from an AUG. I watched the kill cam, because it was entirely possible my Ghillie suit was glitching through a surface or something, but nothing of the sort showed up on killcam.

He also killed me in several other dubious circumstances and the fact that the kill information in the bottom left was solely populated of him getting headshot after headshot made me very suspicious indeed. I typed in chat "Nice aimbot" at which point he replies with "hahaha"... :mad: :mad:

I leave the game, seeing no point in playing against somebody who is destroying our entire team with his unfair advantage. I fire up google to see if there is any way to report players to steam for cheating at which point I notice that VAC servers autoban people permanently and there is no way to report people manually aside from going on the steam forums and complaining which will probably be pointless anyway.

As far as I know MW2 doesn't use VAC so it makes steam's anti cheat security completely innefective when playing MW2, allowing people to just download wallhack and aimbot scripts at will.

Is it so difficult to just allow someone to file complaints against people and then let the people who work for steam earn their paychecks by spectating said individual?

I'm more annoyed by the people using warp + running perks + knife myself... as even tho you put a good burst on them if you see them they just laugh at it and knife you... you check your rear - theres no way someone can close the distance on you and turn around - and they instantly knife you from behind having covered an impossible distance by the fact they are so lagged you didn't see them before.

I hate wh/aimbot and a seasoned player can tell the shift in the game pace when someones using them even if you don't know who... but atleast with skill and tactics I can usually get the edge if I stay on my toes.

I really enjoy it when theres no one cheating and a half decent host... dedicated servers would be a massive improvement on both aspects...

I must be one of the most luckiest players going. I've seen maybe 2 cheaters since the game has been released. Not counting the rank exploit and people using the gay perk combo, but real cheaters.

Normally I play with about 4 or 5 friends over teamspeak and were always matched up against clans with their ={@#0WN3R$#@}= tags. It's fair to say they come away very unhappy 10/10.

Good to see the 1887's got nerfed. Hopefully there will be some big changes coming up in this patch whenever that will be.
 
Yeah shotgun nerf brought a tear to my eye for about 20 seconds and realised they are now probably pointless, It will be a sad sad day when they nerf G18's marathon, lightweight and commando, its so funny "glitching???" about stabbing people that are so situationaly unaware.

Stabbing people who are situationally unaware is one thing... the number of people who are so laggy they can stab you from across a room or close the distance between you and cover so you don't even see them til too late is really annoying...

What a ****ing joke. IW just make me want to send a package of Anthrax to em. They are never going to fix this unless the profiles are stored remotely. Really are a bunch of idiots.

Quite why people want to show rank 10 prestige anyway? May as well stick a label on saying I cheat.

Give me back COD2 and get rid of this perks and rank crap..... :mad:

they are stored remotely, hence why you can play it from anywhere when you log into steam.

the exact same thing can be done on cod 4.

Profiles aren't server side tho... the only reason you can get them anywhere when you log into steam is due to steam cloud syncing the files with an online storage.

then i dont see why it cant just run a check when you load it up, to see if its different to when you last logged in.
 
Because thats not how steam cloud is setup... for it to work like that the stats system would have to run on the server backend not client side as it does atm. Currently when your done playing the latest version is resync'd with steam cloud - it has no way of checking if the changes were legit or not.
 
I played a little bit of hardcore last night, OMG i got owned!! You have to totally change your style, you running around guns blazing, its literally one shot one kill!! It makes you into a better player because you care for your life more lol
 
More people should come join Senilex's vent at night and come play with us. (Check the MW2 OCUK steam group for the IP/Port)

We had such a laugh playing TDM last night on underpass, managed to find a new super secret spot and own the crap out of everyone... much lols
 
Allot of the complaints i see here can be easily fixed by playing hardcore. Hardcore Headquarters with FF for the win.
