It does not say it is the latest, but this is what the phone has at the moment. I am surprised that the upgrade did not take place with the former owner. I believe that the latest available (obviously not for every code) is v.400.xx.xx. From v. 100.xx.xx there have been several upgrades and none has "touched" this mobile. I have no idea why it happened this way.

Hi guys,

Just purchased a 250MB data bundle and I wanted to know how do I set it up for 3G? I've got the following settings: Orange GPRS WAP, Orange Internet, Orange MMS. The last two have a lock logo next to it. Any input guys?

There's nothing you need to do to setup 3G. Just use the Internet as usual. If 3G is available, the phone will use it.
 
Got mine today, first Nokia I've had for years, been using a dodgy old Samsung for the last 5 months or so. First impressions so far are that its a well made phone, the keyboard is taking a bit of getting used to but I expected that. Glad I don't have hands the size of meat hooks.
 
Managed to pick up one of these for £80 I can't wait to get shot of my HTC Magic. **** off touch screen and Android.

Can't wait to get it!
 
Decent price for a used E71, did it come boxed with usb cable and headset? Load up OVI suite and check if the phone is updated to the latest software and install the latest OVI maps as well. Enjoy the phone.
 
Yeah if it all pans out OK it seems like I picked up a right bargain, been watching the bay over the past couple of weeks and these seem to go for more like £130 in good condition.

Heres a pic of it seems in good nick apart from the screen could do with a clean.

Comes with charger, case, and 2GB microSD card. No data cable but I got a feeling I have a data cable that will fit for it. Cheers for the tip on updating I will do that.

It is locked on Orange am wondering how easy it is to debrand it? I will have to get it unlocked is it wise to debrand first or does it not make a difference?
 
Debranding and unlocking are different, and shouldn't affect one another *I think*. Look at previous posts in this thread, I've linked a quick guide that tells you how to debrand the phone and get on the latest firmware, which I highly recommend you do to get the most from the phone.
 
Well I got it yesterday and seems like I got a right bargain as it is in mint condition like the photo suggested and was already unlocked! :)

Managed to debrand it in the end. Nokia Suite has some bug that reports no new firmware is available even after I changed the product code. Turns out all I had to do was hit reinstall firmware and ignore what it says about no new firmware available.

So far am really loving the phone am pleased to be back on a Nokia.

Edit: One problem I am having is the connection is stating I am on Edge connection only. I have Vodafone and their HSDPA service but it doesn't seem to want to connect at even 3G. Any ideas? I have looked for high speed data packet option but it isn't there.
