What about those who indoctrinate people into militant atheism and blind faith in what they think science is (it does happen)? Personally I would class those as bad as those who indoctrinate into religion...

Of course. We'd fight over anything... lok how heated the Apple vs PC debates get and that's just hardware\software and not even devine.

Religion does a lot of good (bringing people together is just one example) but people only ever focus on the minority that do bad or did bad in the past.

One very small portion, minutely small.
people can be indoctrinated into anything from crime, politics, atheism and a belief in science outside of what it was designed for. All of which have just as much impact as religion.

I suppose that means the world would be a better place without religion. Never mind all the other things it has done for us.

I say we ban football. The riots between Millwall and West Ham means we should completely get rid of the sport, despite the fact it brings together the world and is watched by millions.

That only matters to you and your family. Plenty of other people make choices that have negative impacts on their families. Why should we stop the JWs and not anyone else?

The new testament is quite different from the old testament,even the birth of christ is different(25th december)they both preach differnet things...its all a load of ******** and i was bought up a catholic...i read old and new testament about 25 years ago,probably before you my young Padawan:)

Are you really trying to say that the birth of Christ has different dates in the Old and New Testaments? If so, you probably need to read your bible again...
 
Personally, I think the world would be a better place without religion. Justifications can wait until I have less fatigue.
 
A small/specific example would be these religious nut jobs from America giving advice and support to the Ugandan government about homosexuals - not long after the government are proposing a bill that imposes barbaric laws on homosexuals! 3 years in prison for not declaring you are gay! One of the ultra conservative Christians invloved in this "consulting" is a guy who published a book called "The Pink Swastika" linking Nazism and a conspiracy for gays to take over the world. Although it is mainly the Ugangan government going through with this - religion played a crucial role in the lead up :(

EDIT - Bigger picture = war/crusades, displacement, sexual abuse and the evil Lord Xenu to name a few.

The secular world is only just getting to grips with homosexuality, so I hardly think religion can be blamed for mistreatment of gays.
 
I dont think it would be a better place without religion. It would however be a better place if there were no religious nutters who use religion for there own gain.
 
Haven't got time to read the whole thread and this has probably already been said but. NO if someone wanted to start a war they would just make up another excuse.
