Five Cars for Five Roles and Small Budget

1) The Weekend Sports/Track Car £15K budget
Elise - early S2 111s would fit the bill methinks. Caterfield would be tempting but I've always had a soft spot for the Elise
2) The Mile Eater £15K budget
E60 530d
3) The Family Wagon £10K budget
Merc E320 Estate
4) The City Car £8K budget
Twingo GT or RS if it could be squeezed in budget.
5) Something Italian £10K budget
Alfa Spider (original one, not the GTV/Brera spinoffs)

I will add mine in a bit, just wanted to start the ball rolling! :D

wth?

My DC2 is disgusting to drive through town, the gears are all close together, pot holes all over the place, scared of people dinging into me.

wth? All the hot hatches mentioned in that section pretty much fit that description too, why pick on my choice?

My original choice was going to be much more silly tbh, a Toyota bB totally slammed on SSR Longchamps, but that would be too slow and not enough fun.

The challenge is this. You need to choose 5 cars that fit within the following categories and budgets. No swapping money to top up other categories, if you don't spend it you loose it and of course cars can be new or old. Lets also have some debate on peoples choices or else we will simply have a lists thread, which no one reads, so challenge peoples rationale!!

Big and comfy so has to be a Jag XJ. Non of this hard German rubbish.

Nissan Stagea.

4) The City Car £8K budget

The most pointless sort of car so may as well have an old Range Rover V8.

Can I just hire a Ferarri 599?

The essence of the M5, the ultimate all rounder imo.

Seems like both me and R420 have the same idea. However its not really in the Spirit of the thread so I'll do it properly now:

1) The Weekend Sports/Track Car £15K budget - E46 M3 Cabriolet

2) The Mile Eater £15K budget - Facelift E65 BMW 730d

3) The Family Wagon £10K budget - E39 M5

4) The City Car £8K budget - E39 540i Sport Auto ;)

5) Something Italian £10K budget - Struggling here really. 3200GT if they really exist but I suspect they dont. Fiat 500 perhaps as its cute and the GF might want it.

I think I am a fanboy. That gives me an idea for a thread later.

1) The Weekend Sports/Track Car £15K budget - An extensively modified MK3 Toyota Supra.
2) The Mile Eater £15K budget - BMW 850CSi
3) The Family Wagon £10K budget - This is a tough one. It's a toss up between a MK1 Toyota Aristo + £7,000+ of go faster kit, or the best spec'd lowest mile E38 750iL I could find, plus change.
4) The City Car £8K - Restored 205 GTI with GTI-6 lump and Power Steering.
5) Something Italian £10K budget - Lancia Delta Integrale, but I suspect my budget would only get me a 8V or a ropey 16V :(.
