Hi all

Just woundering if people have used any products and would recommend any which removes the smell of smoke in a car.

Car does'nt smell terrible but its noticeable on times, not gave the car a really good clean as of yet but woundering if there is any really good products which could help remove the smell from the interior (leather, roof lining etc..)

Many Thanks

Give it a deep clean and try to leave windows open for as long as possible to get the fresh air into it, more than likely never get it out but clean all surfaces thoroughly and this will help!

Shampoo everything like crazy - carpets, upholestery, everything.

Then when everything is completely dry, throw baking soda everywhere and leave it for a few days. Then hoover it up. Activated charcoal is an alternative but not sure where you'd get it from.

People have also suggested using a Ozone Generator in the car. Apparently thats what the pros use to 'mist' the interior.

If the car is an ex-smokers then you'll probably want to get something on the headlining and maybe even somthing to circulate through the air vents if it has a re-circ option (or a few sprays of somthing nice?)

Carpet cleaning solution, bucket with about 3" of warm water, old tea towel, lots of elbow grease and really soak all the fabrics. Once dry hoover and rebreeze.

I'd also reccomend driving it with all the windows down for a bit afterwards as washing can bring out all sorts of weird smells while it dries esp if pets have been in the car. My CTR always smelt like wet labrador :D

Time for me to stop drinking and go to bed when thread title reads...

Any tips to remove a slight monkey smell from a car.

I keep reading this thread as 'Any tips to remove a slight monkey smell from a car ' and end up dissapointed at the lack of story :(

(I'm not well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it...)

Presume we're talking cigarette smoke here?

The smell stays in the car because it's in the fabrics, the best way would be to wash all the fabrics (including headlining etc) but thats not always easy, cheap or practical.

Autoglym make a fabric refresher (autofresh I think it's called) like febreeze but for cars. Air fresheners like magic tree or vent ones will only mask the smell. Give all the carpets, seats and headlining a good spray with it and leave it for a few hours to dry (with a window or 2 open a crack if possible)

When my cat peed in my car a few years back, that's all I could smell. I suggest that it'd do a fantastic job of masking the smoke smell that you're dealing with here.

On sale of my car when I used to smoke I just gave it a thorough clean inside, left the windows open whilst driving around for a while and just gave it a bit of a febreeze. Worked like a charm :) no comments from the purchaser so must have been all good :)

Totally unhelpful I know but while I was glancing down the thread list I actually read the thread title initially as "Any tips to remove a slight monkey smell from a car " ...which I thought was a little odd so I looked again and was slightly disappointed to find it was just smoke.

I was just coming to post the exact same thing, read it as 'monkey smell' :D
