*The Bluray Quality Thread*

Hot Fuzz has got a reference quality transfer. Don't know about SotD but Blu-ray.com gave it a good review.

£18 for both at Play if you do decide to get them :)

Cheers man. :)

Watching Life Of Brian now. I'd give it a 6/10.

I'd imagine the original film is in some state by now and as such you've got the odd little specks and such. There isn't much definition either but it's not really to be expected given when it was recorded. Still, significant improvement on the DVD.

hmm I'm really tempted to get it as BD.

Might be worth dling it to check the quality before ordering.

Love that film so much and would love to have it on blu ray :D

Has anyone picked up a bunch of blurays from the Gamestation clearance sale that has been going on? most of them at £3.98 & £4.98.

I picked up the following.

Star Trek 11
Spiderman 3
Leon
I Robot
Deathrace
Batman (The Dark Knight)

Got the lot for £42 :D

Watched Dark Knight so far, excellent film & quality.

Absolutely yes. The comparison shots I've seen are stunning and this review gives high grades to the transfer quality.

Christ almighty, what a ridiculous review. The journalist has crammed as many long philosphical-sounding words into every line as he can, and disappears completely up his own arse. Why are so many film reviewers such complete ****?

edit: lol, the word for breasts beginning with T gets starred out :p

:O

NO ONE TOLD ME.

I only picked up on it since I started checking Moneysavingexpert forums, most of the stuff there was linked from hotukdeals so now I spend a few mins every other day checking the latest deals.

There is currently a good deal (buy 1 get 1 free) on blurays at Tesco. They are priced at about £15 but even with the above average internet price it still works out at 7.50 each which is cheaper than most online bluray stores I know of.

Bought myself,

Batman Begins
Top Gun
Goodfellas
I Am Legend

I couldn't find these at my local gamestations so got them brand new and sealed from Tesco, still not bad at 7.50 each.

After I got these I ended up spending another £150+ on BluRays online, It has been quite a bad 2weeks for spending money on bluray movies :o

You should try reading Sight & Sound reviews...

;)

I prefer that type of review to something someone's written on imdb whilst they're drunk though.

Here's their original review of Fight Club

After finally installing my sub/dennon 1610 amp/5.1 system up over xmas, I got around to testing some blurays out.

Apocalypto: 10/10 - The sound/picture - Just awesome.
Terminator Salvation - 9/10
Angels & Demons 7-8/10

I'll be adding more to this thread at a later date. I've got aload of films I'm planning to get through :)

Watched we were soldiers earlier, looks a bit grainy in places but a brilliant film none the less.

Went on a bit of a BR spending spree today. :o

Bought Casino Royale, In The Line Of Fire, The Italian Job and Yellowstone. Already got Casino Royale on DVD and saw it at the cinema and loved it. Hoping the BR version will be worth it. Got Zulu for Xmas and so decided to get The Italian Job on BR as well.

Yellowstone is another BBC natural history thing. Meant to be quality. Want to get Planet Earth on BR as well but my brother got that on DVD in October for his birthday so I think I should leave some more time before I get it on BR. :p

Just tried to buy some films from bluray on the bogof offer... both films are definitely in the offer, both £11 each, but it's still wanting to charge £22 to my card....
