I thought this.

People must be deluded if they think people are jealous of their 20k Golfs or Civics.

Jealous someone has 20k to spend on a car, not of the actual car, I think its completely fair to criticise someone for spending say, 28k on a 318 BMW, but to jump on someone with what is a very decent hot hatch, after it has been stolen on Christmas day, because it has some decals on it, says far more about the poster than it does the person with the Hot hatch.

No one would steal a 10 year old BMW 323i SE to order for instance ;)

Where is all this £20k car stuff coming from, it's a 2006 Megane not a brand new one?

I still think that most peoples opinions are not motivated by jealousy.

I dont like his car, and I have the "economic feedom" to go out tomorrow and buy one just like it and not have to ring ocean finance to do it.

But he shouldnt feel I'm jumping on the hate bandwagon, there are very few cars I care for, its one of the reasons I have the "economic freedom" I do.

I think that there is a possibility that if your car didn't have "R26.R!" plastered on the bodywork it could quite possibly still be sitting on your drive. What's stopping your insurance company for thinking the same thing?

This had occured to me as well

£10k/20k/30k.

It still costs way more than the people obviously have to spend who are giving biggest kicks to the person who is already on the floor.... at Christmas.

Their ability to afford does not really have any relevance on their ability to comment on somethings aesthetics. I know where you are trying to go with your point, I don't think it's that appropriate in this instance for what it's worth.

Please, really do explain this "The more perceived wealth you have, the more relevant your opinion" mentality.

Does this mean those of us who cannot afford (or rather choose not to afford) a £10,000 French hatchback shouldn't be allowed to vote either?

Excuse me while I wade through all this hyperbole.

It means that someone comes across as stupid if they say "I would never drive the new Ferrari California it looks rubbish!" when all they own is a 1.2 Fiesta.

The other point alongside it is that someone has had there car stolen on Christmas day of all days, as well as had the trauma of having there home burgled while I assume they were out visiting there parents or other family, and certain people on here feel the need to post "OMG WHAT AN UGLY CHAV CAR".

Combine the two faults in the attitude and you have someone who not only looks stupid, but also looks obnoxious.

Now, I assume you own a 205, if you were to tell me you would never drive a California because of how rubbish it was, I would think you were an idiot, if you were to say to me instead "I would not take the California in that price range and would much rather have the Gallardo Spyder" that's fair enough.

A Megane R26 is not quite a Ferrari California though is it? The point doesn't have quite the same impact when you're not talking about £100k top marque cars.

He isn't a member here, and it is all in good jest. Just like when we take the pee out of Jade Goody and Michael Jackson on the day of their death.

Some people just need to chill the heck out.

Wait, Jade Goody's dead? :o

Was wondering why she hadn't been in the news for a while :p

Head, sand, out!

Well not quite as bad, the point still stands, I was exaggerating so people could understand the concept.

I think everyone understands what you're trying to get at, just not everyone agrees with it.

At the end of the day, we're not talking about a kid in a 1.2 Fiesta slating a Ferrari, we're talking about people calling a 3 year old Renault Megane ugly which to many people, it is. It was always a bit of a marmite car with that rear end on it.

I agree it's a bit low to just slate the guys car (though MarkDavis it seems to be expected of, I can't remember ever seeing anything other than controversial comments designed to stir up arguments from him).

Is that a question or are you trying to tell me that he is registered? If he is, why didn't he create the thread?

He registered half way through, at least put the effort in to read the thread if you're going to start posting, it's not even a big thread.

Lol, what the hell is wrong with some of the people on this site?

The point isn't that you find my car ugly, or that you think its **** (yet it out performs every other hot hatch and a lot of cars above its league), or that you're debating if its an r26.r or not, or if its worth 10 or 20k, so i'll put it simply for the people on this forum who seemed to be more obsessed with being incredibly quick witted and sad.

MY CAR HAS BEEN STOLEN, AND LOOKS LIKE THIS :

And for the record in reply to certain people who are telling me threads like this are pointless, because of another forum/group on facebook, i've actually found the cars whereabouts. So it does work, just when people are more interested in helping than stroking their e-penis.

Cheers for those who have been helping/supporting.

Mule / Car Owner.

Not being funny, but you drive a car that is going to stir up opinions, surely if you care this much about what people on a random internet forum think you wouldn't drive such a vehicle? Or modify it in such a questionable fashion?
