"Become a Fan" obsession

I've joined a few for musicians and ones about mates but not the lame ones such as "waking up to a text message".
 
No, but people that keep joining these pointless 'groups' are extremely sad and usually get hidden on my Facebook home page.
 
I'm not allowed to join anymore groups because i have too many and i have 147 'Fan pages'. :o

In my defence for the groups, i foolishly joined quite a few of those "lost my phone" groups, "vote for me for X" groups and a few other event things. I really need to leave 2/3 of them! :o
 
Last time I logged into myface was about a month ago. I really do not want to know every ingle little piece of crap about people I have never had anything to do with for 12 years and will never speak to again.

SWMBO however is addicted to it. Oh, but I HAVE to check out XXXX photos.
 
Groups have gotten somewhat out of control there are too many "a good cup of tea" & "the cold side of the pillow" type groups. Not only that but there's always about 10 different groups that all have the same lame idea:

"a good cup of tea"
"enjoying a good cup of tea"
"cups of tea"
"a cup of tea"
"a hot cup of tea"
"tea"
"hot tea"

What is a tea lover to do!?

Yep. I often want to message the creators of the groups and just ask "WHY!?!?!?". The groups are pathetic and I'm slowly gaining a hatred for the people joining them :mad:

However, I do suggest people join me in the "Shouldn't women be in the kitchen not joining groups?" group :D

I prefer to just have the official pages that have proper news and updates on what I want, not a bunch of goons telling me how much they like a cup of tea, or how much they enjoy the cold side of a pillow or not being on fire.

I couldn't give a rats ass about most people, which is why I'm primarily only a fan of sports pages.
 
Not really, no.

I only really join groups that are active like my old schools group so i can see events or fanpage someone made for my friend because she's a photographer etc.

I can't stand these people who join these **** groups. A popular one seems to be:

"XXXXX is a fan of "Getting Paid"".

Yeh, no ****, who doesn't like getting paid? Technically, everyone is a "fan" of that, but most don't feel the need to join a crap FB group.
 
I've been invited to a '[FREE] Itunes Giftcards [FREE]' group three times now... soundings like something dodgy to me, but there are half a million members.

People are just making groups for the sake of having a lot of members. I think it's some sort of new social superiority complex, like the people who add everybody they see, just so they can have thousands of friends.
