TV 'Buzzing' with PS3 plugged in

Hi Guys.
I have a little problem with my *ahem* i mean my sons PS3

When i first set it up i had this awful buzzing sound coming from the tv speakers and horizontal lines scrolling up the picture. (28inch Sony CRT) I got a little bit worried about it, until i figured out that if i unplugged the scart plug that connects the NTL box to the TV the buzzing stops.
Its just getting a bit of a pain in the bum keep swapping them over. Dont think my back can take anymore of this reaching over this monsterous TV!! Any ideas of a solution would be much appreciated!

Have you tried turning the NTL box off when you use the ps3?

The only other thing i could thing of is get some shielded scart cables.

Nope doesnt work mate, still buzzes. Even if i unplug the NTL box

Try moving the power cables around so that they don't cross other cables. Your PS3 power cable over an unshielded or poorly shielded scart could cause what you are experiencing

Have you tried just using the composite leads and not the scart?

Ill try that m8, although its a rats nest around there, what with the christmas lights and stuff. Actually that could be the problem maybe?

Ill try that, thanks m8, although i wouldnt permanently want to run via composite as they look such a mess sticking out the side of the TV.

Thats what i thought, and ive been doing a bit of googling, apparantly if i use a 3 pin to 2 pin adapter, which is effectively taking out the ground on the ps3 plug it will stop the buzzing. Dunno if i should do this though im no electrician. :/

Hmmm , I think that's wrong somewhere , the ground is supposed to stop the buzzing I think , without a ground it'll buzz

I might be wrong though

mine done the same thing when connected to a scart, i found when i unplugged the coax it stopped the humming noise even with the wires connected, a simple coax earthing kit sorted it out, i also noticed when i used hdmi leads i never got it.

The Coax on the NTL box? Could you link me to an earthing kit please?

yes the coax in the ntl box, google coax grounding block. before i grounded mine if i ever had it unscrewed and i touched it with my finger it would give a little shock. may not be your problem but was with me. also try having your tv and your ps3 on and unplu all the other plugs to rule them out
