Nokia N900

How's the screen responsiveness kitchster?

Ordering mine on Saturday, MPD or Carphone Warehouse/mobiles.co.uk. Not decided yet, both good? Will be wanting it Tuesday! :p

nokiaretail.co.uk has this phone free with a new contract was thinking of the £30 p/m contract on voda seemed a good deal.

I think you just replied to a post of mine on the maemo forum :p

I think I will be going for this deal, can anyone shed any light on how good the processing/delivery times are? So if I order Saturday I can be confident it will come Tuesday?

Ta. :D

Not guilty your honour, forgot to add the deal, 300mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet (5gb fair use p/m)

How definite is this? Would be prepared to wait a little longer it this was the case.

Im trying to find a link..........

But I read in a few places (bout a month ago) that O2 were going to do it towards the end of January. Im on O2 and I dont want to move to another operator so I will be glad when they do it :)

I really like the look of this handset, the only thing that puts me off is the resistive touchscreen. I hope it's hugely responsive and doesn't hold the machine back with regards to multi touch apps etc.

I've not had any hands on experience with the screen but apparantly it's the best resistive screen on a phone and is supposed to be suitably sensitive :).

Of course it's not "hugely" responsive, no matter what anyone says, it's resistive, and thus limited in responsiveness by it's very nature.

And given that a capacitive stylus is available, there is now no reason to buy a phone with that dinosaur technology imo.

Dont worry about that, I havent managed to find ANYONE complaining about it so far. ;)

It has a stylus, but you don't need to use it (at all), according to the owners of the phone.

But I agree, it should have had a capacitive screen!

Responsiveness is of no relevance for the N900 screen, its just the fact that you have to press on the screen rather than just touch it. Id prefer capacitive definitely but the N900 screen certainly isnt an issue.

I'm glad to see that owners are reporting a great touch screen experience. I might have to try get hold of one, the truly open source/homebrew development platform are really appealing :)
