Xbox360 VS PS3 graphics comparison (round 5)

I bought the 360 because it's controllers felt better in my hands (big hands), where as the ps3 controller was just too damn small, always have been, BUT, does that make me a fan boy? no lol.

Muppets these kids, honestly.

 Where is your post aimed exactly lol. This is about graphics and no one is calling anyone a fanboy because of their preferred machine

I'm still searching for the PS3 equivalent of a MadCatz mini controller I had for the PS2. Was smaller than the normal DS2 but felt really comfortable.

Sorry, I forgot to mention my point was aimed at the aimless kids still scattered around the internet trying to better one another about all this console malarkey lol, not at anyone on this forum.

Which brings me to my next point, hopefully be picking up a ps3 soon, now blu ray films are coming down to normal dvd prices :D

This thread is funny, so many justifications, oooh dev teams are lazy, your HDMI is crap, exclusives look best, x is more powerful than y. Can't people look upon the evidence presented and take it in without trying to justify why your console looks better/worse.

Here's me a 360 owner and I looked through some of the games and most of them looked better on the 360 version, sharper and higher res textures. It matters not to me as I only have an xbox.

The information in the link checks only one tickbox in the "which console should one buy" questionnaire, if you care about exclusives on either format a few texture differences aren't going to sway you one way or the other, if you want a blu-ray player you're not going to get the xbox... and so on...

Sony and Microsoft have you all wrapped around their little fingers.

Exclusives are the true way to look at graphical capability and compare the top two from each genre, GoW2 and Uncharted 2 and you'd need glasses to not see the superior graphics in U2, granted it is a newer game. Alan Wake is supposedly the next visual candy to appear on the 360.

I don't think you can really compare exclusives and use them as a measure of which console is more capable - mostly because what you will be judging won't be the graphical quality of the game, one that looks really crap might be doing something technically amazing, but you're not focusing on that. Moreover, I'd say that you'd be judging which game has the better art direction, which is unrelated to which console is more 'capable'. For example, Uncharted 2 is a fairly bright, vibrant game whereas GoW2 is kind of dank by comparison. Does that make either console 'more capable'? Not really.

Even then, is it even fair to compare those two games? I mean think about it, Uncharted 2 is running on an engine especially designed by Naughty Dog to run on the PS3. It is completely tailored for that system in every imaginable way. Gears of War 2, on the other hand, is making use of the Unreal 3 engine which is kind of a 'jack of all trades' engine by comparison.

Which is why I said this before hand:

As someone said in the comments, the exclusives is where the best graphics designed for the console are to be found, but then it's impossible to compare.

:)

As far as I'm concerned, any comparing between the consoles is useless.

I would think Epic have spent more time developing U3 for the 360 than ND has there engine for the PS3. Epic have always shown the 360 version of each new version of U3 and was responsible for doubling the memory for the 360. The brightness or colour of Uncharted 2 is not what makes it look better than Gears 2 its the animation, Characters, textures are superior even though the lighting in Killzone 2 is superior to both IMO.
As skippi has said you cant really compare exclusives as oranges to oranges, but what it does give you is an idea of the GFX power of each console when being pushed to its current maximum. The skilled devs who spend there time on one console and not having to consider the other limitations/differences of the other consoles, should allow them to shine.

damn modern warfare looks like complete ass on either console, i cant believe how low the res is to be honest, on another note its interesting to see that ps3 suffers a lot of a lack of texture quality yet games like mgs 4 and uncharted 2 have the highest res textures ive seen on a console

From the shots in the OP, the textures don't look different to me. There is quite some difference in contrast and saturation though which looks to do textures on the PS3 an injustice when compared to the 360 shots. I.E. The shots on the PS3 seem more vivid and warm compared to the 360.

Overall I prefer the better colours of the 360 & the more natural lighting you get from the PS3. It's really more a strength of the gfx cards than the machines. As for exclusives imo the PS3's are far better graphical or more importantly to me is the diversity of the games.
